is this good or bad????

Hi everyone!

well as some of you already know we have been TTC for 4-5 months with no luck thus far.
and because i have extremely irregular periods since i 1st ever got them till now its really hard for me to tell when im ovulating cause i can go 4-7 months without having them.
well a few people told me to buy a ovulation kit so i can predict when im ovulating but that would work out to be extremely expensive so i opted for a thermometer which i use every morning
today was my third day of using it once i took my TEMP i went straight to to loo and i realized i had got my period right now i dont no if thats a good thing or a bad thing???
im kinda excited cause that means i would have been having sex when i was ovulating is that right??
oh and say if i got pregnant can i still get my periods??
cause im only very light but then again they have only just started im really confused i thought i new all this but i guess not lol

please help me to understand everything as im wracking my brains out lol

p.s do i take my TEMP all the time or only certain times like this months and not the next or do i have to have my periods or something??

Im not a temping expert but I believe you are ment to take it everyday as close to the same time each day before you do anything (ie while still in bed) Also you need to pick a route to take it eg oral, vaginal etc and stick to it. HTH

Cindy - with temping you get the best resuts if you can your temp around the same time each day, as soon as you wake, before you do anything. A lot of women on here use fertility friend dot com which is a website that will keep a record for you. There is also a lot of information that this website will give you about temping. If you use this, on the third day of high temps, it will show when you ovulated, don't be too concerned if later, ff changes dates, there are also other methods of looking out for when you ovulate (O). ff, will explain about these too.

Do you have a gyno/fertility specialist, as they may be able to give you something to help you O as well.

no unfortunately i dont have a gyno im new to all this i wouldnt even no where to look for a gyno or what they do =[ i feel really naive about it all...

Cindy - start with your GP. Some GP's will send you for a few tests, but you can also ask for a referral to a gyno. There are a few gyno's arond Maitland/Newcastle that specialise in fertility issues, so ask for your GP to refer you to one of these. Not sure what area you are in.

thankyou so much im in maitland but will travel to newcastle. would you happen to no the name of any of the gyno's around that area??

You would need a referral from a GP to see a gyno anyway so if you just make an appointment with your regular doctor they will be able to help you and point you in the right direction :)

Also make sure the thermometer you're using is a proper ovulation thermometer, or at least that it measures to two decimal places - the temperature shifts can be very very subtle.
