We're just looking at rentals and theres a listing that says
"Situated in owner-occupier estate"
What does that mean? Does it mean owner-occupied estate? Does that mean the owner lives in the estate, or owns the whole estate, or something? It isn't units or a townhouse or even a gated community its just a normal house in a normal area (it's a 'named' area).
Just wondering. I don't really want to live next to our landlord LOL
I don't really understand what they are trying to say here, but my interpretation is that most of the people who live in the estate own their house. I don't know why they would advertise the ppty like that unless some people think that people who own their house make better neighbours or something? weird
I'm pretty sure it's saying that most people in that estate/community are home owners (who live in their home) as opposed to renters. Does that make sense?
Thats what I thought at first, but it didn't seem very relevant to the listing considering its for a rental, so I thought it must have meant something else... :dunno:
i think it means that all the houses the owners live in them...
i think they would advertise that to get a "better quality" tenant one that wants a long long term lease and will treat the house as there own and with respect...
I also think it sounds like they mean that most of the people living in the area own and live in the house.. like they dont rent it.
We live in a big rental area - lots of units, but we own our unit (well, paying it off) and the building is a bit of a dump at times! Some of the other people that own where we live say that the renters trash the place, but the owners dont trash it (because they own it, kwim?) Maybe thats what its trying to say?
I also just wanted to say that I dont agree that all renters trash their homes, its just what some of my neighbours have said.

OK, unless it's a new housing estate otherwise why use the word "estate", I would interpret that as being a house on a block that has another house that is owner-occupied.
I can't think why they'd be drawing attention to it unless the owner also lived nearby.
Ahhhhhhhh dunno, real estate agents are weird.
It sounds like what the other girls have suggested. That majority of occupiers in the area are home owners. Which a lot of family orientated renters are looking for. It's not weird advertising, it's smart advertising. They want to attract the families who rent.
to me it ment that the owner ones the other houses on the estate and also lives in one....that is how i interpreted it.
