Hi all
I currently own a 100knot sling and a bubba moe. (I actually have only used the bubba moe atm because I feel DD is more secure in it.) However I have found that wearing a sling kills my back after about 30mins of shopping and DD is only 5kg!
Can anyone recommend a better carrier with more back support for me? Also I would need a carrier that would fit the more generous sized person ;)

The Ergo is supposed to be brilliant for people with bad backs. The Patapum is another brand of the same style as Ergo, I've heard excellent reviews on that one.
I have a dodgy back - and a bit on the generous side (well ok - a lot ;))
I have an ergo - love it love it love it. My back never hurts.
Oh - I have a bubba moe too which is good for DS in the back carry - any other way hurts too much.
I have a bad back and bit on the large size. I like the ergo for back carriers and mai tai for front and back, trickier to put on as you have to tie it. none of these hurt my back.
I think the ergo is good for your back too, and I think you may be able to get an extension strap for the waist strap as well???
The Ergo does have a waist extension strap - I bought one and used my Ergo all through my pregnancy to carry my toddler :D
a good woven wrap would be the ultimate support for someone with a dodgy back as you can tailor where the support goes for the most comfort by wrapping in diff ways plus they come in all different lengths from about 2metres to 5 metres in length. brands to look at are didymos, vatanai, storch....... failing that most of the meitais like baby hawk and kozy come in an XL strap version as well and are very supportive for both mum and bub up to a good size.
I love the HAB for small babies - can't beat a wrap when they're small. I don't have a woven wrap, but have heard good things about them (i.e. that they're very supportive), and they will probably be better as bub gets bigger. I love my pikkolo, and BabyHawk at the moment now that Sam is 13mths - I can wear him for ages without getting sore. DH uses the Ergo all the time and finds it really comfy. I find the Ergo a little bulky in the front carry, but great on my back.
