Can you become more allergic?

Mackenzie had allergy testing done in Dec and confirmed she was allergic to eggs and cow's milk. OBviously we have been avoiding these but the allergist said that if she has some cake/muffin/whatever that was cooked with these things and was shared by lots of people then it would be okay. Since then she has reacted also to a VERY small piece of chocolate muffin from Muffin BReak, a corn chip and now she is reacting to Wiggles pasta which she had before.

Do you think she is becoming more allergic to egg or is there something else like a preservative in these foods that she is reacting to? I of course am keeping note and will let allergist know in April but wanted to see if others had same situation. Mackenzie has had the Wiggles pasts about 2 other times and not reacted before.

With allergic reactions, people will not react on the first exposure - this is the time when the body recognises the allergen, building up a resistance. You will notice the reaction on subsequent exposures.
Hmmm... its hard to really know without having proper testing done.
AJP has a good point re tomatoes - I know Aidyn had a mild tomato allergy (which he has now grown out of). Can you test her with another tomato type of food, to see whether you can pinpoint it at that, or something else.

My advise is to continue to avoid everything that she has previously reacted to. As it can be common for allergies to become worse with each exposure.

Aidyn also had mild allergies that came up on a skin pr!ck test - to wheat and potatoes, however they were so mild that the allergist said he would be fine to continue with those foods, as he would grow out of it. But I'm not sure on what level your DD's reactions were...

We've got egg allergy here and so we went for testing where it was discovered that DD has allergies to tree nuts which she has never eaten. The allergy was just from others eating the nuts then kissing her....very bizarre. Anyway, it is likely to get worse at each exposure so we are obviously avoiding all nuts (funnily enough not allergic to peanuts, but we won't tempt fate).
As for egg, they can't actually tell me if she's allergic to only the raw egg (we do know it is egg white and yellow not just one of them) and I'v ebeen avoiding everything with egg. After talking with some people I have begun to give her the tiniest amounts of things with cooked egg. Well she had a bite of sponge cake and was ok. The reason for this is because going cold turkey can also make it worse, so it's a really fine line.
The allergy specialist said not to go overboard and cut out products with trace in them , as this is half the debate of what causes allergies in the first place (being too strict). So we are now avoiding egg but I've reintroduced it into our house, and will be giving her tastes of things with cooked egg, occassionally (I just don't have the guts all the time, even though I am armed with epi pen and medicine).
I would just avoid the things causing reaction and go back for more testing. Certainly since our first testing to a year later, there were more things DD was allergic to. So it could be anything (as there is no egg in corn chips, so it could even be corn or some of the seeds in it if there are any).
I also know DD is just SOOO sensitive to preservatives. She can't eat most things just because it makes her a devil, so your DD could well be extra sensitive.
We also saw a kenisiologist who specialises in allergies and that has been amazing. Turns out DD had allergies/intolerances to 40 things!!! We've eliminated most of them (barr egg and nuts at this point..)

Thanks girls. I will continue to monitor and just see. So far no epi-pen need ed but if it does get worse and she eats something with a trace I would hate to be int hate position. I agree about being too strict though - I don't want her to be a bubble girl but I don't want her sick either! Luckily her mild reactions are just spots on her face. She has had other spaghetti and pastas before as well as baked beans so not sure if its tomato or what. Will just keep monitoring.
