Wanting to go back to bottles?

Hmmm thinking we have a problem on our hands.....

DS gave up his bottles himself when he was about 14-16 months (can't remember exactly but it was ages ago) and decided he only wanted to drink from his sippy cups.

In the last month, he has wanted things to be in a bottle again. He will start off drinking it in his sippy cup and then ask for it to be in his bottle. So we've been humouring him and doing it - picking my battles and all that! - but it seems to be happening more and more.....

Hmmmmm..... I hate fighting with him and I'm sure its cos his sister has bottles (he stole her water bottle one day - pic is on facebook ;)) sooooo what should I do?

I was thinking of buying him an extra special cup that he picked out himself... but thats all I got in the way of ideas at the moment......

Any other flashes of brilliance out there?

Mel - I really don't have any brilliant ideas for you but I agree with you. I think that it's cause Miss M is on the bottle and he is getting jealous. Go out with him and let him choose is own sipa bottle for his milk and then maybe every time he uses it reward him with stars or something like you would if you toilet train. Maybe tell him that you have gotten rid of all his bottles cause he is a big boy now?

Olivia is like this with her dummy...well its actually not hers...considering she gave it up at 10 months of age. Now her sister is around, she insists on sucking on one ALL day. HHHmmmmm. Luckily I can get away with not having them around. As for the bottles, she still has 2 a day so i dont have any probs with that bar the occassional taking of Rebeccas. It happens, sorry cant give you much advice....good luck!

LOL I have similar problems with my DS wanting to copy DD with various things eg a dummy...he never ever had one but seeing DD with one made him want one. And he likes to be carried like a baby occasionally while he makes "goo gaa" noises like her :rolleyes:.

How about upgrading him from sippy cups to cups just like Mummy and Daddy use? DS now has a "cuppa tea" ie warm milk in a Bunnykins mug and he loves that...and I let him drink water from a glass and he looooves straws so I also have Tupperware cups that have a lid with a straw hole. I just buy normal plastic disposable straws at the supermarket and it is a big treat for him to pick which colour straw he wants.

Otherwise...give him a bottle with a slow flow teat for newborns and he might get so frustrated with it that he'll give it up again!!!
