what type of wardrobe doors are "in"?

We are moving back to our home, which is a typical Melbourne 3 bedroom 1960's brick veneer. We have repainted and sanded floorboards and have decided to take off all the doors and also the wardrobe doors, and replace the wardrobe doors with sliding ones probably. I have no idea what style door to go for. DH likes mirrors but I just think that is so 1970's but I know it is still popular. Just wondering what other people who have renovated or built have put on their wardrobes?
ETA - should have said that the built in robes take up a full wall in each room and are floor to ceiling. Great storage space but means the wardrobe doors are quite large.

I like the mirrored sliding ones as well. I think they make the room look much bigger as well when they are a full wall. If you really dont like them chck out some of the funky designs that IKEA have. They are quite stylish!

OMAN, don't go the mirrors!
If they are that big, it will be too much. I have a big bedroom with 3 huge sliding door wardrobes and I am looking to cover them up.
I can only have my bed side on to the mirrors or else I'm just looking at myself, or noticing my own movement out of the corner of my eye. Its certainly not very restful.
I also can't have my beautiful dresser the way I want it because if it faces the mirror I have a bloody parallel universe going on with to much reflection...

Maybe have one door with a mirror?

Otherwise u can get sliding doors which aren't wood. I can't really explain what they are made of though... We used to have them :redface:

When DH and I were choosing a robe for our second bedroom I was so against mirrors.... until I had a look at the other options and realised that mirrors would make the room look heaps bigger & better than the other options would. And it does, it actually looks really good.

I agree that mirrors look good and make rooms look bigger, but I hated having to clean them. It is impossible to clean from ceiling to floor -- let alone streak free!

We opted against mirrors for the whole movement thing too. That and it was too 70's for me. We went the matt finish ones, but at home when I was living with mum and dad, dad knew I hated them and had panel dorrs made to fit my wardrobe there, so you can potentially have whatever takes your fancy....

thanks ladies. Your opinions and experiences have been very useful. The Ikea ones do look great so may have to do a visit there.
