We are heading off to the Gold Coast in a couple of weeks, and I was wondering what theme parks/attrractions people recommend for a 15 month old?
I think we are definitely going to Sea World, and are 50/50 on wet n wild.
Any thoughts? Also do you think a 15 month old will get much out of Australia Zoo?
i think dreamworld is also possibly worth a trip...they have wiggle world, nick central (Nickelodeon) and the animals. as i live on the gold coast, i plan to buy a years pass in the next few months to take my son, as i know my cousins boy loved it when he was about 1 year old.
when i went to Australia zoo i was a little disappointed, though we did go on a rainy day. but i know my friends children like it there, they are about 2yrs old - they love animals.
Matilda loved Australia Zoo and Dreamworld... we meant to do Sea World but never did it. Wet n' Wild... well because she was so young (12months) when we went, there wasn't much she could do, so the 1-2 things she could do got old pretty quick.
What about Currumbin Wildlife Sancuary?
They have a really nice area for kids and picnics as well as a few interactive displays. Then at about 3.30 (i think) you can feed the lorikeets which littlies either love or hate.
If you're on a budget after 3 its half price! so you can still do the lorikeet feeding and see some shows before it closes!
DD loved dreamworld. Nic World primarily. Wiggles world was a bit disappointing. She like tiger island too and enjoyed sitting in the vintage car while DS drove it and she enjoyed the ice cream shop :lol: But it is an expensive day for just nic world.
I am going to take my DS (almost 2) to Aus Zoo next month because he is really into animals.
One thing I would recommend for a child that age is Underwater World at Mooloolaba. A lot less walking around than a big zoo and they usually really love the fish tanks. My DS loved it even when we went there at about 8 months. HTH.
Yeh underwater world is a plac eI would definetly go to.. Its on the Sunny coast though?
We took our eldest there when he was 8 months old and then again at 15 months and he seemed to enjoy it. and you can get a stamp to get back in I think.. Or you could when I went there last.. Makes the day better..
I think anything that involves water would be fun for a child of any age..
My boys love Dreamworld - mostly the kids world - Wiggles World is it?, and also the tigers. They enjoyed wet n wild when we went, but really they just paddled around which they could do many places which cost a lot less. They didn't mind Sea World, but they don't have patience to sit through the shows, and when they were asked which one they wanted to go back to, the answer was Dreamworld.

How long would it take to drive to Underwater World from the Gold Coast? I did see that place on a website and it looks pretty cool!
It would be a pretty big drive. I just mentioned it as you talked about Australia Zoo.
From the gold coast I would think about 2.5 hours. From Aus Zoo it would be about half an hour.

I was going to suggest Australia Zoo! I took DS there when he 14 months old and he loved it. There's a lot for them to see and you can involve them in all parts of it, whereas a theme park, there's a lot that you would have to give a miss, KWIM?
We went to Underwater world in December and TBH, i thought it was pretty disappointing. Definitely not worth the 2.5hrs it took us to get there on a 38c day with no air con in the car! We were only in the actual place for about an hour and a half. All DS found interesting was the walk thru aquarium. Thats just my opinion though!
It definitely isn't very big so I get your point totally.
