Breech but hopeful
In all my other pregnancies by now bub was head down but Daniel seems to be being stubborn and is breech. I thought he had gone head down but the other night saw another burst of activity and lots of gyrations and at my OB appt the next day he was breech again.
OB is not at all worreid, saying being pg #6 to have got this far and being the sort of person who once stretched does not seem to go back to taut, I have a lot of flexibility everywhere for him to turn and probably not til labour.
Has anyone had a baby stayed breech and given birth vaginally to breech?

a friend of mine had her baby vaginally and she was breech at the hospital last week. it was all planned. she was induced though so that they could pinpoint a time when it was all going to happen. i guess they were ready for a c-section though just in case. it depends on what sort of breech position the baby is in and what doctor you get i think. good luck.

A friend of mine was pg with her 4th last year and he was breech until 37 weeks when he turned on his own. Hopefully that'll be the case for you as well. Good luck.

Thank you Hollo and Jodi
My mum had 2 breech babies, my sister was baby #1 and she never turned but my brother who came after me did turn. My mum died 15 yrs ago so I can't ask her anything, she was also a trained midwife which would have been helpful lol.
My OB said he may not turn til in labour so if he is prepared and ok with it I'll still go naturally and just end up breech if that is how he stays. I know it can be done and safely so I have complete trust in my care but yeah.. if it can be avoided by him turning natrually or by a ECV (did I get the right abbreviation?) then all is good.
I do think he will be heavier though than my other babies. they all measured approx 2 wks behind dates yet Daniel is 3 wks ahead...
my others with Robert were 6lb1, 7lb3, 3lb6 (31wks stillbron) and 6lb4 and all were at 38 w2d except Annabelle.
I reckon Daniel may be clsoer to 8lbs. My first child was with a different father and he weighed 7lb15 at 40w2d.
I guess anything is possible.

Jude- Try not to worry to much hun, Daniel still has 9wks to turn. I have my fingers crossed that he does. Gee how exciting another oldie bub coming soon hehehe. hugs

Hey there, only select few hospitals will allow you to birth breech bubs. You will have more luck if you have a private OB
Hopefully he turns for you! He still has a few weeks left to wriggle down :)
good luck

I know a few women who have birthed breech bubs at home, homebirth is your best bet for a vaginal birth, most hospitals do not have the knowledge, and will pressure a c/s on you...

If you google the Spinning Babies website, I think they have some ideas and positions to try and move bub before and during birth.
If bub stays breech, what will your midwife/ob do? Will they let you birth a breech baby vaginally? Is there anyone who's experienced at that there?

When I was a bubs, I was born 9 days past EDD - and turned 8 days before EDD - so the day before I was born. Most babies these days - actually all in hospital - are not given the luxury or trust to do that. The problem is not the safety of breech birth, but the lack of skills and lack of motivation for the Obs to learn how to do this. They don't do it because they don't teach it. Traditional midwives had these skills and now birth is dominated by Obs and the role of midwifery in hospitals is practically forcing midwives to be nurses to the doctors, we're losing vital skills.

Thank you everyone for the replies. My O has said nothing at all about having a c sec due to breech. He is pretty sure daniel wil turn but prob not even ebfore labour is established. He says I am so stretched with such loose ligaments etc that there i splety of time.. but I gather he has no worreid with a breech birth or the midwives at the hospital being able to handle it.
Having had a stillbrith though I am wary that there is more can go wrong if there is to much delay in delivering his head so long after his body so.... I would rather he turned.
I'll look up the spinning babies website tomorrow.
hugs nite

Jude - DS was a vaginal breech attempt but his head was stuck so an emergency c-section  DD was transverse to 37w, then breech  then head down at 38w and a VBAC. You have time but spinning babies is still a good option!!
