Waxing when UTD
Just wondering if anyone has tips for leg and bikini waxing when preg... I'm getting to the point where maintaining my bikini line myself is difficult (can't see it anymore ) and my legs are just a hassle. Was thinking of going back to waxing for the rest of my preg, but then remembered all the positions they put you in to get everything (lie on your stomach, legs up etc) and wondered if it was such a good idea... Be good to hear if others have managed it, before I make an appt and embarrass myself

I'm 16 weeks along but showing far more than that! and recently got waxed.
I just explained to the girl that there were just some positions impossible for me to manage and she adjusted them to ones that I could do...
When you ring up, just mention you are pregnant and generally they will book you with someone experienced in waxing pregnant women.
I will continue getting waxed because well - I can't manage my legs because I get so breathless and nearly pass out and as for the bikini line - I don't want to do it by feel!
Hope that helps!

I've been having leg waxing all the way through. My therapist just doesn't get my to lie on my tummy, she does most of it while I'm lying on my back (or reclining, lying flat isn't good when you start to get bigger) and then I just turn half to one side.
As long as they know, they can work with you.

I just didn't bother. When I was pushing DD out, the last thing I cared about was how overgrown I was

I have no idea why, but I had a desperate wish to be hair free for birth, so I got a XXX wax (leaving the landing strip) the week before I was due. I'm glad I did, it felt nice in the water :) I think I might do it again for the next one, cos I'd plan another waterbirth. It's not a public consumption thing, just a water thing - I love water and how I feel in water and the less friction there is, the more watery I feel!

I maintain my waxing (inc brazilian) the whole way through - my last one was at 38 wks with DS.
Mytherapist knows I am preg and when I get larger and more uncomf she allows more time (maybe tell them when you make the booking).

Ok I sound feral  because I didn't get it done. Might have to try this waxing thing when PG with #2, why not! Never waxed down there, is it embarrassing, does it hurt? Tell me girls how it's done!

As long as they know, they should NEVER get you to lie in an uncomfortable position. You should also tell your therapist even if your not showing or uncomfortable. It's important for us (Beauty Therapists) to know!

queenbee, you are not alone. I never wax down there. I did once and I bled like a stuck pig, it wasn't pretty.
I would love to have a landing strip, 'cause I reckon it would be easier at birth and after. I read Kelly Winder's article, but I'm still not convinced. I'm just a gigantic chicken.
I also reckon it probably wouldn't be too bad in normal life. Can I have a general anaesthetic? I'd personally prefer to give birth.

I have just gone for my second time and got the extended bikini wax done (first time I just had a normal bikini wax, but it wasn't enough for me) and it really isn't as bad as I thought, wear loose knickers though, the therapist asked that I pull one side of the knickers across (she then waxes the bikini and bottom area) and then the other side. Was ouchy but booked another in just before delivery so it can't be that bad.

It does hurt but it's over in a flash...
I get EVERYTHING off. It's the only time I *feel* really clean...
Lesty - I have never bled... As long as they pull the skin taut you shouldn't have a problem.

i have continued getting a brazillian wax also through out my pregnancy & have noticed it does hurt a little more but like missbec said its over in a flash!

Can I just offer some advice from what I find helpful....
Always hold the skin tight & once they take it off, if they dont firmly put their hand on the area, then you put your hand there.... I dont know why but when you push on it straight after its not as painful.
Also its really only the first couple of times that it hurts badly, if you dont leave the visits too long in between then it doesn't hurt as much because they're not pulling as much out if that makes sense.
I also feel "cleaner" when I have mine done & didnt have any probs through pregnancy, besides my back hurting while I laid on it!

It shouldn't bleed if they pull the strip quick enough, and the hair isn't too long...if the hair is long it makes its a lot more slow and painful process!! Ideal 'down there' hair length for waxing is 0.5-2 cm :)
-
Tattoo, I can plait it - is that OK??
I still too scared.

LMAO
Im getting to that stage too!!! I used to be an exotic dancer before I got pg so not being able to reach to wax/shave (and really can't be stuffed) is so wierd for me!...along with the never before experienced total absence of sex drive, but that's a story for a whole dif thread!
