I'm almost 40 weeks pg and have had absolutely no signs of impending labour... So, I was just wondering if this means that I'm still in for a bit of a wait? (I'm pretty well over being pg at this stage)

No advice Sterla but I just wanted to come in here and wish you all the best for your birth
Thanks Amy!
I have no advice either - but bub will come when bub is ready - so dont rush it and just enjoy whatever days u have left!
In saying that alot of bubs go over EDD - thats why is just a estimate date!
I went a week over!
Goodluck tho when the big day arrives!!!
relax, drink some raspberry leaf tea, have some sex and stimulate your nipples :) it won't be long now
Sterla, I am thinking of you lots. I have heard that some people dont get BH contractions and sometimes there are no signs of early labour and it will just happen. Everyone is so different. I hope your little one doesnt keep you waitng to long. I am looking forward to reading your birth announcement in the not to distant future. Lots of love and labour vibes coming your way
With DS1 I had no signs of labour until I had my first contraction (he was 8 days late). So it doesn't necessarily mean you are in for a long wait, but it doesn't mean you aren't either LOL, sorry that doesn't help at all!
The last few weeks are so hard, but hang in there and it will all be over before you know it and your new bub will help you forget about how long you waited .
Lol, I just replied to your other thread! But as I alluded to in the other thread, I had NO clue #1 was coming. I was sure I would be waiting for another week at least. Didn't feel a thing beforehand.
So don't be discouraged! These last days seem long and sleepless, but rest and eat as well as you can, because bub will be here soon.
Hope it's not too long for you sterla!! 40 wks tomorrow, yay!! Congrats.
At my appointment today they said bub wasn't even engaged yet :( So I'm feeling a bit disheartened.
It doesn't mean anything. My bub was not fully engaged on the Friday. No sign of anything Sat. Sun woke up with prelabour - period type pain & a show. By mid morning my bump had dropped really low. Labour started Sun night. Bub born Monday afternoon. Best of lucky with it all.
Thanks Satya!! I just kept reading it's common for babies not to engage until labour in 2nd time mums but it seems less common in first timers so it was putting me off. But your story is reassuring. And also they said bub was posterior at the appt which was annoying too, but I'm wondering if it was b/c they made me lay on my back for ages and it turned around, it has been anterior at other appts. So I'm getting around in a permanent forward bend, lol.
I've never been told that bub is engaged... and bub is posterior (had a check-up today). Hope bub decides to flip for me before or during labour!
Good luck SarahJane! Not long for you now either!
I hope both our bubs turn around and engage soon then Sterla!! ( If you look in your orange book you can see what they wrote if they said he was engaged or not )
Not long now, you must be so excited!
You are smack bang in the middle of full term - 40 weeks as an EDD is an ESTIMATED due date, and you are full term til 42 weeks.... EDD's should be based on 42 weeks. Especially first pregnancies tend to have a longer gestation than others... 41.1wks I think it is.
I wish doctors did tell us 42 weeks as our due date, rather than 40 weeks... it would save us all a lot of impatience and obsessing!
Yep I know... the buggers tho they have you lined up for intervention by having it a less realistic 40 weeks, easier for them to plan their weekends.
if you want to encourage her to turn around you can get on your hands and knees, if you still can!! lol, and try and rock gently back and forth. My middie tried to get me to do this as Charlotte was prosterior u 40+4.
The raspberry leaf tea is a great idea too, have at least 3 cups a day.
Kelly - here I was thinking I was overdue, when in fact I was bang on - 41+1! lol ace.
Good luck Sterla!! Really hope it all goes well and happens soon for you!
Did charlotte turn before labour alexis??
