my blips head down and i can feel blips bum popping up and down when the get the hiccups. i got told the head feels like a cricket ball where as the bum is a little softer with longer softer bits attched...HTH :)
I just wanted to say that I hate it when baby has the hiccups. It is so uncomfortable and makes me feel so yuk. My baby is head down and I feel them quite low.
When my DD had the hiccups, she was head down and I felt it in my ribs where here feet were wedged. I just gave up, leaned back and tried to give her as much room as I could!
I posted a thread about this a little while ago. I was desperately trying to work out which way bub was lying from the hiccups, but I think it's pretty hard to tell. My bub is head down, but I tend to feel hiccups all over the place... usually higher up, not where the head is. It's not just where the head is that would determine where you feel the hiccups, but also if bub is anterior or posterior. Sorry, that's not very helpful.
Ali - I know what you mean about the hiccups. If bub gets them in the middle of the night, there's no way I can get back to sleep until theyve stopped.
it is very tricky. i can never tell what bits are what. i also find the feeling of the hiccups to be quite annoying and feel real wierd. most of the time i can feel them really low almost as if in my *hoohaa*.
I remember reading when I was pregnant that the hiccups kind of make their whole body spasm when they're in the womb, so its quite hard to tell which way they are facing!
Just wanted to add, my DS had hiccups all the time in the womb. It was so annoying after a while. And now, out of the womb, he STILL has them all the time. So be prepared for hiccupy babies!!
just a side question.. my DD used to get hiccups all the time in the womb as well and was a hiccupy baby but she also had reflux. does anyone else have the experience that a hiccuppy baby is more likely to have reflux? (Gee i hope not) :-)
FWIW, my hiccupy child is also a very refluxy child. And often those spit-ups come out with a hiccup!

I like the hiccup sensations! lol
i just visualise bub with the hiccups and for some reason it makes me smile.
I just speak to bub and say 'if you didnt drink that fluid as quick as you did..you might not be in this predicament!'
all depending on how strong the hiccups are, sometimes i feel them in bubs backside! (high up in uterus) but most of them are felt quite low..
I can feel mine very very low, and yes from experience with Darcy who had them 5-8 times a day in utero and then had reflux....I'm heading down the same path if that's true
It's great to read that others have the same sort of feelings and questions as me. My curiousity about which way bub is facing has increased over the last couple of weeks.
I love baby movements, but must admit that sometimes the hiccups are just a bit irritating when they're down low. Mine bub tends to get the hiccups anywhere from once to five times a day.
Can't answer your question though I'm afraid Hollo, I was sort of hoping that there was more head movement, because I've been feeling them down low so much.
I'm looking forward to my midwife appointment on Friday so she can tell me what to make of all the lumps and bumps :)
My bub might get the hiccups 3 times in the course of a night perhaps and then none for a few days , I don't know what that means, I probably wouldn't read into it too much :)
