Hi,

Is the hammock in your room, Aimz, or in her own room?
My recommendations would be to keep as much that is familiar to her where she's sleeping as you can. Maybe set the cot up first so she can see it for a few days before switching over. When you move her into it, is it possible to have it in the same position as the amby was? That way, when she looks around she will see everything is still the same.
TBH, we moved DD from cradle to cot when she was about 8 mths and that was no problem. When we took the sides off the cot she was 16-17 mths and she loved it. But she got a whole lot of extra freedom being able to get in and out of bed herself. We got her to help set the 'bed' up and since it's still essentially the cot, all of her bedding and toys are the same.
Your DD will be fine if you don't change too much at once, is my guess. Make sure she isn't sick or unsettled for another reason when you do switch.
Thanks Jennifer,
yes, the amby is next to our bed so i will definately try to keep it there if i can. The biggest problem I can forsee is settling, because I used to use the swinging and bouncing action of the amby to settle her, as well as a song cue. I guess I will just try patting or stroking, maybe just being there with her and the same song. She also has a little duck cuddly that i have been giving to her at nap time to help create an association. Wish me luck! :)
I worried about the change from swinging in my DD's cradle to the cot but it never made any difference to her. Maybe stop swinging for a few days before going to the cot? That way she is already used to a different way of settling.
Good luck!
Aimz,
Jennifer has given great advice already.
I have had all 3 of my children in Amby hammocks and my fears over the dreaded transition to cot were huge!
But I kept everything else the same: same music, same little toy, same routine before bed etc.
On the day I transitioned each of them I made sure they were REALLY tired.....no midday nap, and an active day, in the hope that they would be so buggered that they would crash and not realise that they couldn't swing/bounce themselves!
Charlie was probably the hardest.....but it was winter, and I think he felt the lack of cosiness...so I got him snuggled up in a sleeping bag, and this fixed it. It took him a few days to settle into the cot, but both Olivia and Lexie took no time at all (ie they didn't make a fuss at all....)
GOOD LUCK!
