Glad we got a second opinion.
Not sure this is in the right spot, but i have to get this off my chest.
My baby boy who will be 1 next month, has had for a week now a runny nose, wet cough and a terriable rattle in his chest, he also was rubbing his ear constantly, among other things.
Two nights ago, his breathing went slow and was aprox 6 seconds between breaths, then they went to 1 second a breath, then he would stop again for 6 seconds.
He went to a dr last week, not my usual dr, but one that was available at the time, we saw this dr a few times before, for the exact same reason, just after Kainne was born, he had the same thing, then twice again after that.
The first dr said it was a cold, and to let him ride it out, no need for antibiotics or cold and flu, and his rubbing his ear is just something kids do, he never looked in his ear.
We tried to buy cold and flu at the chemist, but due to new laws could not get it due to his age, but did get the baby vix.
So we were at my parents house last night, and both my mum and dad said something was not right with him, and for my dad to say something then it must be a concern.
Today hubby was at work, so mum rang and said she would take him to our old dr, thank goodness she did, it turns out that he has an infection in his right ear and also in his right side of his chest, he has to have antibiotics, and once it has all cleared he has to been tested for asthma, which runs in my family and sleep apnea.
My mum is really worried that all this wheezzing may scar his chest, as its been on and off for a year, but there is no way to tell atm, i just feel so bad, for him, we have both not had a decient sleep in days, as he would wake up screaming, so im hoping the antibiotics do there job soon.
Im so glad we got a second opinion, i knew something was not right.
