how many wet nappies per day for a two year old?

my dd is two (and three months)

the days she is with me, we're breastfeeding reguarly, and i change her wet cloth nappy, not uncommonly, every two hours.

we've just started toilet training. sometimes she will be in dry knickers for three hours, asks for a npapy, then wees/poos.

but on childcare day, she can be there seven hours and no wees. In her wetbag i find two powder dry cloth nappies, one pair of knickers bone dry - so that's seven hours and no wee-ing.

she has a big feed when i drop her off, and again when i collect her. (she's ravenous when i collect her). She won't eat the childcare provided cooked lunch. the CC workers say they see her drink at lunchtime - that is all i can get out of them.

each time i put her in the car, i put her drink bottle in her carseat with her (easy access) and encourage her to drink (when we're stopped at traffic lights).

should i be worried about dehydration?
we have been having 40+ temps
this week it's 35 temps.

When DD1 was still in nappies during the day at 2, she was using about 5 per 24 hours. they tend to hold on for ages, and then let it all go. Bilbs is fine hun, she will drink when she is thirsty. Maybe she just doesn't like the CC changing her nappy, so hold on until you can do it?

Is it possible childcare use their own disposables on her during the day because that's what they prefer? Just a thought.

Otherwise, maybe she's too busy to wee? I know Riv won't poop while we're out, he's too busy doing other things.

Riv drinks water like it's going out of fashion, but if you're concerned, perhaps you could add a bit of cordial to Bilb's water? I used to add just enough cordial to add a different taste, and now I just put in a drop of whatever I'm having while he's watching if he feels he needs to have what I'm having. :p

Hi Gigi, probably not the most helpful or what you want to hear but could they not be changing her? When Ari was at daycare they would often send her home with only 1-2 nappies used and this was over 9-10 hrs. I also found out when I approached them some of the carers were putting her in disposables when they thought she was going to poop because they didn't want to deal with a poopy cloth nappy:rolleyes:

My daycare usually change DS about 3 times - 4 at the most during the day - and thats from 7.30am - 5.00pm.
At home I probably change him every 2.5 - 3 hours (depending on what nappy I put on him!!)
He has a tiny splash of cordial in his water sometimes too if I don't think he's had enough.

childcare lead me to believe they are using our mcn + knickers each day. They are not as communicative as i would like, often when i collect bilby, her primary caregiver is not there (for me to ask), and they are not into Communication Books, even though i insisted on one for her previous (agegroup) room.

i have been very patient explaining to all CC workers about the flushable liners (none of them had seen them before us).

i am thinking more about Family Day Care as a more personalised care option now. Last week at Gymbaroo, i noticed several of the adults were not mums, but FDC mums - i had never met any before. Must look into that more.

i was livid on Friday, dh collected bilby, was told her shoes were missing. Hours later, i went thru the wetbag, and found, not only the nappies, but her leather shoes as well! in the wet bag!

i think i really need to start a thread about FDC, what is it like, to find out if that would be better for us.
