What did you waste money on?

What did you waste money on?
I'm not asking if it was a bad product, but if there was something you you spent money on thinking you absolutly HAD to have it, but turned out that you didn't need it at all. Or your baby didn't like it, there are many different reasons it may have been useless.

For me it was a Bumbo. They are a great product, but DS HATED being restricted like that.

Jolly Jumper is great fun for DS but pain in but to move toys of rug move stand then put DS in sling then lift him up all for 10 mins play!!

we have been learnt an exersaucer and it is fantastic and he jumps in that!

An Angelcare breathing monitor. Charlie slept in a cradle in our room for 5 months, then moved to his own room with a video monitor and I never ended up taking the Angelcare monitor out of the box even.

this maybe sound a tad silly but i wasted alot of money bibs and my DS hardly used em. but i guess lucky now i get to pass em on

Have to admit Sushee, that we are the same there! Angelcare Breathing monitor! Never turned the breathing sensor on!

And Maturnity Pads! I was told I would need them for months....never opened the packet!

oh lots of blankets also, as we ended up in swaddle me wraps covered with 1 other and then straight into grobags!

Way too many clothes....newborns just dont need ample floral dresses.....1 or 2 is enough. Not 12 like my DD#2 had.......

Oh, I LOVE my Angelcare! It has been a saviour for a paranoid mum - I will hear no evil spoken against it! LOL
For me it was actually Grobags - DD hates not being able to move her legs, and has from very early on. And I bought such a beautiful pink padded one for 6m up in advance *sigh* It's still in the bag.

Tommee Tippee Nappy Wrapper. When we used disposables it was a waste, even more so now we use cloth!!

I love my AngelCare monitor too - definately helped with the new mummy paranoia.

So far I have wasted lots of money on food containers and drink bottles - I would buy a drink bottle and DD wouldn't use it, or it was too hard for her. Finally found one she likes to use after trying 4 others :rolleyes:

I also have wated money on sippy cups! so far we have 3 different and tupperware ones on order Lol

You know, I can honestly say we haven't wasted money on anything. DH and I are very discerning consumers; we love hand-me-downs, second-hand and found (on council clean-ups) stuff. But Geeezzz, the grandparents drive us completely NUTS with all they money they have wasted on toys, TOYS, TOYS. There is so much to choose from but I think the massive blow-up pirate ship would have to take the cake. And for the record, DS loves sticks and dirt.

I love my angelcare monitor too LOL I still have the sensor on every sleep time :redface: although I admit, I never once used the breathing sensor for DD when we used it for her... sounds like I didnt care, I did but for some reason didnt feel the need to monitor her breathing?

For me it was a hug a bub sling (sorry ladies, I know they're very popular!) I wore it a few times & I admit it was lovely having DS while newborn all snuggled up to me but I just find it so much easier putting him in the pram & throwing my bag etc underneath so I dont have to carry anything. I'm happy I bought my HAB off ebay so I will probably sell it soon, its all washed & ready to go to a new home LOL I guess some people prefer slings & others, like me, prefer prams/strollers.

ETA I think the mastering of tying up the HAB put me off too, I never quite got it perfect :(

For us it would be ... burp pads and breast pads.

Baby bath on stand. Only used it for a week it was an absolute pain to empty. Much easier to pull the plug in the bathtub

Mentioned so far:

Bumbo - DS loved his! But it only got used for a couple of months. Was very handy for camping though.
Jolly Jumper - Borrowed one, thank goodness because DS hated it.
Angelcare monitor - Best thing ever! I have weaned myself off it though but gave me peace of mind.
Bibs - We got given loads, only used tem when he was teething. Redundant now.
Grobags - Another favourite, it's DS's sleep cue.
TT Nappy Wrapper - Really? I was thinking of buying one! I am a sposie user though.

TT nappy wrapper, I had to have one now i dont want to spend the money on the refills because they are so expensive. Now i use it as a normal bin. what an expensive bin.

The Tommii tippee breathing monitor, i never used it but used the baby monitor. I should have just bought that instead of both.

Too many bibs, i rarely use them

My ds loves the jolly jumper but we bought the jolly jumper musical mat
Used it once. He wasn't really interested in it

Too many baby blankets. I couldn't get through them all

Defiatly too many blankets as well. Because you have to wash so often you just don't need that many. And of course clothes but i'm a bit of a clothes fanatic as well.

My 2 biggest wasted items were 2 of the most expensive. I brought the Bummi's cloth diapering kit ($230) and found them hopeless. They never fit Olive properly and leaked and gave her nappy rash, terries are much easier.
The other thing was my Ergo baby carrier approx $200). It was only a waste cause I only used it a few times when Olive was a newborn as she hates it! I tried 2 different types of slings in the shop the other week but these didn't go down well either.
