Xmas baby...opinion?

Okay this is probably a silly question but... :p

DH & I are going to start TTC next month (YAY!!!!) I think I am due to O around 28 March - 2 April, which would mean IF we do get a :bfp: then I would be due on 23 Dec... XMAS baby! Now I know I'm probably getting ahead of myself (!!), but I'm just wondering if anyone else has a Xmas baby?? My bday is the end of Nov & I think that's close enough to Xmas, let alone 23 Dec!!

But...I don't really want to wait another month to start trying.... :wall:

Any advice or stories much appreciated :)

I'm a June baby and my DD is a May baby and I love it. We have started TTC #2 this month and therefore if we fall pg it will be a November baby. DF figured this out the other day and pulled a face. I agree that a baby to close to Christmas is well, overwhelming. But... in saying that there is no way I am going to wait any longer.
Not my preferred time of year, but it isn't going to stop me :D.

i think just TTC - you can put it off a month, then do what happened with a friend who had a four week premmie bub born only a few days before Christmas

ultimately, it will happen when it happens, most people DON'T fall first month (sorry, but it's the truth) and if you start avoiding "events" you'll start saying thinking each month leaves you too close to something "easter, Au day, x, y, z birthday....)

Yes! DD was due around so many birthdays and we so wanted her to have her own. She did end up having her own birthday (not sharing) however now she has two cousins due the week before her 1st birthday so you never know she may end up sharing anyway. Your right BG, it rarely happens how you plan!

I've struggled with this also.

I've been TTC #2 for a while now and opted not to TTC last March for this exact reason. Don't know what I'll do this time around because I'm sick of TTC and will do anything to get our BFP. I also used to go out with a guy whose b'day was xmas day and he hated it...it was never a special thing to him which I think is sad, but that can really be managed by how the family handles/manages it. (BTW, with our DD, she was conceived first go!)

I read a thread some time ago about people who had kids with b'days in December and there was a few stories mainly about kids getting one present instead of 2, not being able to have a proper b'day party because everyone is doing family stuff etc.

That said, I totally agree with everything Briggsy's Girl has said. You can't control everything and you could go early/late and still end up with a Xmas bub. A friends bub was due 28th Dec and she had it 8th Dec instead.

Okay, I've decided....
I AM DEFINATELY GOING TO START TTC IN MARCH....Christmas baby or not :dance: it will still be special, and chances are, we may not even fall pg first go. But if do, well we'll be over the moon!

I honestly think the amount of control we have over this stuff is fairly limited. An EDD around 23rd December means you could go two or three weeks before that, or into the new year.

My first one was due on 13 December and I freaked the whole time I was pregnant that she would be late (first babies are always late right?) and come right on Christmas.

She was born on the 18th November - a touch early but healthy and we were home on November 21st :lol:

Hi my DS is born on the 23rd Dec :-) He wasn't due ntil mid-late Jan but nature will take it's course.

Our experience - I wouldn't recommend it if you have a choice. We hold his birthday party in September because by December everyone is going on holidays, school is finishing etc. We don't put the tree up until christmas eve because it's the only way to seperate the present fest. A lot of people try and buy him "a combined" present which we discourage - at 6 you would rather 2 cheap presents than one expensive one - this may change as he gets older. And the biggest fact our son pointed out to us this year. He has to wait 362 days to get another present.

Having said that when I was giving birth to him it never entered my mind and after 6 years we wouldn't have it any other way

I'm a December birthday (28th) due the 14th Dec but it was never a problem that I can remember. I always got a Christmas & birthday present and they were separate days.
Its now that I get a combined present but that's sometimes my choice.

My daughter was born 10 December. December isn't really ideal but it didn't stop us when TTC. I hope people don't just give her one present etc!

My own birthday is 3wks after Xmas and as a kid & teenager i felt a bit ripped off ... as it's still holiday season many people can over look your birthday being so busy & totally forget your birthday :doh: ... or better still they go on holidays and don't get to celebrate your birthday with you as they maybe interstate, etc ... :rolleyes:

Some people even give you a gift and say "Oh, that's your Xmas & Birthday gift together in one " :rolleyes:

Oh good luck TTC.....i think at the end of the day....if you want a baby..any month s/he is born will be special.

In saying that....i always hoped DS wouldnt be born on particular days near the end of December (wasnt due til Jan....but if he came early). DD1 is end of November and its a bit close to Christmas...but i dont think it makes any difference....

god yes I'm a true believer in baby will come when it's meant too and if that's on Xmas day then it is! like what briggsy's girl said!

I used to always think about not wanting a bub at a certain time but now I just want any baby, it could be born on the moon on a -20 degree New Year's day for all i care as long as i have one :redface:
