Looks like no VBAC for me... very upset.

Looks like no VBAC for me. I visited my OB today and blood pressure is up after I have got SO FAR with no issues...

I have to go back on Friday and the decision will be made if I have to have another C-section. I am so disappointed, and could just cry thinking about it, not to mention scared about any medical issues this could cause for me and bubby.

I know that the end result (a healthy baby) is what matters but can't help feeling disappointed, frustrated and somehow upset at myself????

I know the gut wrenching disappointment you are feeling all too well.

Are they not willing to give you any medication to keep your blood pressure down at this late stage?

I really hope it doesn't come to a c-section for you. I'll :pray: for some divine intervention along the way to bring your BP down quick smart!!!!!

Dont be upset with yourself - it is not your fault !

Please try and rest up and try not to get too upset ( i know thats easier said than done )

Have just come off the BP meds so I could have an epidural for a VBAC, so nothing else available now the BP has gone up so high so fast. It is just hard to accept, and I need to stay 'calm' between now and Fri to try to minimise the BP rise???? and keep my fingers crossed???

LJM- It's so hard to not be dissapointed when you have been working so hard towards something. When i was induced due to PE i was devastated that things were not going to be as i had hoped.

It's ok to feel dissapointed, upset and frustrated, even though you know you have to do what is right for you and bub, it is still causes that cascade of emotions. Be gentle on yourself, it is certianly not your fault..............best of luck.

Feeling alot better about the prospect of another CS today than I was yesterday. Just so shocked and upset as we were heading towards a successful VBAC and i was all prepared for one. Will keep everyone posted...

Just wondering why you had to come of the bp meds for the epi, with my first I had pre e, and induced at 38 wks with bp meds on board and had an epi.

I say go back on your BP meds, it is safest for your baby!!

And on the Epi thing... why would you want an epi? For an active birth, which is highly recommended for attempting a VBAC, you should plan to birth without these interventions. The inclusion of such drugs can lead you straight for the operating table.

I feel like I am in a similar situation to you. I am 32w and 3d, and really hoping for a vbac. I have passed the point when my blood pressure went up in my last pregnancy and am still fine, but am trying not to get too excited as I know that there is still plenty of time for it to go up.
It must be so disappointing to get so close and then have your bp go up again!! I have thought about it alot and know that there will be tears if it does. I also know however that there is nothing that I could have done to change it, and that an elective caesar is the best option for me if it does. I don't want a repeat of last time! I don't know about you, but my blood pressure kept going up during labour until it was too dangerous to continue, and numerous people were very scared for me and bub.
Don't feel bad, it is not your fault! Do whatever you feel is the best option for you and your baby in your current situation. If a vbac is still a possibility that is great, if it is a caesar then that is great too.
I am also curious about why you have stopped the bp medication though. I know an epi reduces blood pressure, but your usual medication shouldn't effect whether you can have one or not.

Thanks everyone for their posts... saw my OB today and he has given me until Tuesday to go into spontaneous labour... in which case we can proceed with a VBAC, but I also have a C/S booked for 10.30 on Wednesday.

I am feeling alot better about the C/S... at the end of the day, I want a healthy bub in my arms! and I do know what to expect (not sure if this is good or bad!).

So, it's off for me to eat some spicy food and drive over speedbumps and DTD with DH...

PS - anymore wives tales to bring on labour that you know about?????? Let me know!! LOL

Take a bath with clary sage oil ;)

Take spoonfuls of castor oil (yuck!)

When DTD - have him lay in you after he's.. uh.. spent ;) for as long as possible. It'll ripen the cervix.

Oh - and have PLENTY of orgasms. That's what my OB recommended.. lol

Hi, acupuncture is a great way to ensure there's nothing preventing labour from starting. They combination of things that participate in the start of labour is huge and many of them are affected by physical and emotional stress. Acupuncture will make you relax and move your energy gently allowing bub to settle lower and some of the points, like those on the feet, encourage the downward movement of Qi (energy) like speed humps, long walks and dare i say it, castor oil. this is without the effort and discomfort of walking (short ones are good) or driving, and castor oil??? yuk is right!

You would get in at least 2 (or 3) sessions - and I'm told thats all you usually need.

Ring around for local places today - most people are willing to help you (thats what I found anyway when I was ringing around!!!)

See if you can get treatment today - and then again on monday....
