Emily has really bad nappy rash ATM. She's had since yesterday and it's getting worse. We've tried treating it with various creams, but that seemed to make it worse. The skin has broken and is blistering now, so we are using just a cloth with plain water and drying the area with a dry cloth. What else can I do? Would powder make it worse, or better? We're giving her as much nappy free time as we can.
Have you tried moogoo?
DS had really bad weeping blisters laat week - absolutely smothered him every nappy change with moogoo and it was gone soon enough

R u using sposies when she is in nappies. I found using cloth helped heaps. I use bepanthem, paw paw cream, but when Dd had it very bad her skin was broken i got cream with cortisone in it. You can also try cornflour
It may be worth taking her to your MCHN or pharmacist - if its bacterial, then there's stuff that will clear it up in a flash, but if its not then there are other products around.
Some people use cortisone cream but I don't like using that unless neccessary - my fave tip for nappy rash is to use MooGoo Soothing MSN cream on it, clears it up overnight. If you're using cloth nappies, try using a raw silk liner as they have antibacterial and healing qualities.
If you're interested in MooGoo (and trust me, it works!) then check their website for the stockists in your area. They do mail/internet order but that can take a few days to process.
I have heard about Moogoo, but haven't got any, yet. And I sort of need something straight away. But I will definitely look into it.
We do use cloth, but since this rash everytime she wees she screams. We've had her in sposies since midday and she hasn't been crying when she does a wee, so that's a plus.
I'll see how she goes tonight and I might take her to the dr to get checked out tomorrow.
I use a product called nappy goo. It is made by the RCH in Melbourne and is available at the pharmacy there, as well as many others. If you google it you will find a list of pharmacies that stock it.
I have heard good things also about moogoo but haven't tried it myself - yet!
Desitin Cream from any chemist. It's around $7 a tube and has 40% zinc instead of the usual 5% most other creams have. It heals it up immediately and we use it at night as we know he'll be in his nappy for 10 hours and he has never had it back. Good luck!
We've just had a really bad run of nappy rash, with broken bleeding skin. Normally Bepanthan keeps things in check, but for some reason not this last time. We ended up using Clonea (from the chemist), with Sudocream over the top like it's going out of fashion, and this has worked for us. You can use a cortisone cream if it gets really bad, unless the skin has already broken, in which case don't, cos it will hurt like crazy. If it's fungal, it can take a couple of goes to get the cream that works best for your DD. We tried Daktarin first, which did okay, but then the rash came back with a vengeance, which is when I switched to Clonea. And as much nappy-off time as you can manage also does wonders. Good luck - I hope it clears up really soon for her.
If you want to use powder, you can try Prantal Powder. It is designed for medical use, you should be able to get it at a pharmacy.. It is designed to treat bedsores and severe skin irritations. It was the only thing that helped mum when she was sick.
I used it on Charlotte after she suggested it. Only needed two changes and it was all but gone. Just wash it off thoroughly at each change and make sure that the area is DRY before reapplying.
The other thing is lots of nappy off time (with or without creams etc)

you can also get surgiskin (sp?) from the pharmacy to put over the blisters when they are clean, to help them heal. The skin will let the wound breathe but still keep it away from the wee.
