Buying a Pram - McLaren XT Techno

my partner are thinking about getting a "McLaren Techno XT". We like it overall because it is small, light, sturdy and easy to manouvre (sp), but it is a little on the pricey side for us and I would like one that allows us to have our new born facing us. Also the basket is quite small. I was wondering if there is anything like it that will provide us with a bigger basket, lower price and the option to have our little one facing us? Or is this the best were going to do?

Is there anything else i need to think of when buying a pram?

What are peoples opinions on the McLaren?

ETA: We really don't want a 3 wheeler.

we have a mclaren vogue as a 2nd pram as other is phil and ted and takes up lots of boot space and also wanted one to be in house so that i would walk more often than drive everywhere.

It is light, great to push and cheaper than techno and also fully reclines.

i love my Maclaren. I pushed my cousins cheaper stroller that also reclined. Not sure of the brand, and it was no comparison. Hers was difficult to push and drove me nuts. I sound like i should be getting paid by Maclaren! :lol: I really do think it is great though.

I love my maclaren Techno too - i have had four-wheelers, 3 wheelers, the twin techno and the single techno - and for walking on even ground the techno wins every time!

I recently bought my maclaren vogue & LOVE it!

A few years ago I bought a steelcraft stroller that looked to me just like the maclaren buggy but much cheaper.... after pushing it around for a while (maybe after only a couple of weeks) I found the front wheels to not turn easily, I had to use both hands to push & especially turn it. Now I have my maclaren which I can push & turn easily with only one hand.

Its a real delight to use & takes up next to no room in the boot.

Something for you to look out for.... if any of the baby shops have a discount on maclaren strollers & have sold out or theres not a store near you, remember that David Jones guarantees to price match & they sell maclaren strollers.

I recently saw the maclaren Ryder on sale at toys r us down from $449.99 to $299.99. I called my local toys r us store & as I suspected, they had sold out of the strollers. I then called my local babies galore store & asked if they'd do a price match which they wouldn't. So I headed to David Jones & they were having a sale at the time. I showed the lady behind the counter the catalogue for toys r us & she happily said she'll match the price for me. THEN she put the extra discount on aswell! So I ended up getting my $449.99 stroller for $239.99!

Moral of the story.... if you see it on special somewhere you can get david jones to match it!

We've been using our techno every day since DD was 5 days old and we love it :leap:

we've decided that we will get the techno but were going to wait until after baby is born . we figure we can use a sling or something similar until we get the baby bonus and actually have enough to pay for it. lol.
