I wanted some advice. I have been TTC for 8 months now but I have not had AF since 8th Dec. I have BFN. I went to the doctors last week and had a blood test and now I have to have an ultrasound next week. My doc talked about PCOS.
I was really hoping the blood test would say that I was pregnant. Before december my cyles were semi regular.
What does it mean to have PCOS? Do I have a chance to conceive?
Starting to worry.
Hi Kate77 - I don't have any real advice for you - except I know lots of people who have PCOS go on to have babies - I think you just need a bit of help ovulating maybe - someone else will pop in and give more helpful advice tho!

I was diagnosed with PCOS in September/October 2008 I had been on Implanon prior to this so my cycles were pretty much non existant. I had long cycles and I have some facial hair and weight issues.
After the Implanon was removed (in August 2008) it took AF 10 weeks to return. My first cycle was 35 days long and I did not ovulate and the second cycle was going on to be a longer one... I did ovulate but on CD37 so was starting to get very worried especially when the first cycle had finished on CD35 and there didn't seem to be that much happening until FF (fertility friend) showed me an ovulation at 7DPO and then got a BFP when I was 17DPO. I was undergoing acupuncture and taking metformin for the PCOS
PCOS can be different for each woman. But falling pg can happen but it can be relatively quick (ie like me) or very long for other women. Happy to answer any Qs you may have (if I can of course!)

I too suffer from PCOS, and for me it means that I do not ovulate on a regular basis, (just this week I have had my first AF in 8 months!) because the eggs form little cysts on my ovaries instead of being released.
PCOS affects women in many different ways, excess hair, acne, excess weight and of course, irregular cylcles.
And like Control Freak said, many women with PCOS go on to have normal pregnancies, and beautiful babies. There are many books availabe on this topic, have a look at the Belly Belly online store, or at any good book store.
If you do have PCOS (and :crossfingers: you don't), then there are plenty of treatments available, including natural therapies and also fertility drugs from specialists.

Thanks everyone for your reply's. I have just got back from a holiday which was nice.
My Ultrasound showed that I do have PCOS. I have an appointment with a specialist next week. A bit dissapointing but at least I have some idea about what is going on in my body:rolleyes:
