Netball and Pregancy
I play indoor netball 2 nights a week. It is pretty faced paced and I wondered if it was safe to keep playing whilst pregnant. I had a missed m/c in Jan this year and of course wonder about everything I do - Did this cause it?? I'm not currently pregnant (well, counting down my TWW) and wondering if maybe I should stop playing for a few weeks. I played last night and tonight and as a result, my lower abdomin is so so sore. I think I have just answered my own question but would love some other input/feedback too.
Thanks

I do know people who played netball for a fair amount of their pregs, but personally I wouldn't - though it is supposed to be non contact, we all know how rough we girls can get! An accidental elbow to the tummy could be very damaging to your bub.
There's also a rule about not getting your heartrate over a certain point isn't there?
In the end it is down to whether you feel comfortable or not.

Personally I would stop.
There is some risk if you overheat and your heartbeat goes above a certain amount...
Plus there is the risk of an elbow, knee or some other body part plus the ball to consider.
I guess I may be more cautious as I have had a loss but I know lots of doctors that say to wait till 12 weeks to resume sport activities...
Good luck with what you decide Bec..

I was told by my dr as long as you were doing it prior to pgs then its ok the continue on..
FWIW i played netball til 32 weeks pg with my second child... and well i never really showed so no one knew til i told them after we wont the grandfinal
But in saying that do what you feel comfortable doing

My doctor told me that most sports were fine to continue playing as long as you don't let yourself overheat.
The only sports he said were definitely off the list were competition squash, skiiing and horse riding...
