heat pack the size of a breast pad , can they be home made ?

i need small heat packs , like the size of a large breast pad ..

I have vasospasam and the flectalon breasts pads arent quite warming enough before a feed for me ..

how do you make a heat pack ?? or more importantly , who can make one for me ;)

i just need one , as its just my LHS .. but i dont have a sewing machine ...

all the heat packs for BF have the nipples cut out:rolleyes: and thats where i need it most ..

I would LOVE it if some one can make one for me ... i can fill it my slef and hand stitich the top closed but i need the acutal shell .. kwim ..

any one crafty enough to help me ?? i'll return a favour (somehow) ..

I can make one and send it to you, what material would you like it made out of, I have a few bits her that prob would work, I make heat packs for my kids etc. and what size exactly would you need it.

I made them for myself and that is saying something since I am a shocking sower....sewer....however you spell it!!

I just got a thin-ish washcloth and cut a rectangle and then folded it in half so it was a square of the breat-pad size. I sewed it almost all up and then filled it with rice and then hand-sewed the last bit.

The rice seems to heat really quick, so you don't have to micro them very long. If you want to get clever, you can put dried lavender in there for nice smells, but I was slack and didn't- the rice smells a little "ricey" when heated, but its ok. They felt good when bf-ing.

My Grand Mother makes them to sell at raffles for charity. She makes them with wheat adds a bit of lavender for that nice small (although personally i hat e that heated lavender smell but you can use something else for smell) she uses corderoy material for hers. she uses like canvass for the actual bag with the wheat and then makes a corderoy like cover.

wheat is good...it retains the heat better...so do split peas!

hunni I have here some 'bosom buddies' (www dot physipak dot com dot au) heat packs. They are for mastitis but would work for that reason too :) If you would like them lmk I can send them to you :) They are new in pack and pink ;)

just be careful what you put in them.
wheat is good, but it can (seldomly but still) spontaneously combust.
Thats why the more pricey heat packs are use heat treated wheat.
Whichever sort you go with, put a small glass of water in the microwave with it when you heat it up, as its safer to heat them that way.
