I know that electric blankets are bad for unborn babies, the electric field and all, but what about laptops? Does anyone know?

are you using wireless? this might not be so good...... we canned all the wireless in our house when we found out we were preg.........
We have wirless in house and both use laptops. I used mine while preg all the time.
electromagnetic radiation pregnancy
and you will get some more info
we felt it was better just to switch it off
Oops. I spend the vast majority of my pregnancy on the couch with my wireless laptop!
Its not wireless. But what I should do is put it on the coffee table and not over my belly. I will google that later, thanks heaps. I guess this time TTC, I'm more worried about things.
We have wireless network, phones etc and used all threw pregnancy, and had mobile in pocket to, and bub seems perfectly fine to me. I had laptop on tummy majoirty of the time and still do.
Thanks everyone! I can breathe a sigh of relief that I'm not going to hurt the baby. I didn't have a laptop with DD.
Some study titles and their findings...
Bx:
Huuskonen H. et al.: Teratogenic and reproductive effects of low-frequency magnetic fields. Mutat. Res. 410:167-183, 1998.
"The epidemiologic evidence does not, taken as a whole, suggest strong associations between exposure to [power-frequency fields] magnetic fields and adverse reproductive outcome . . . Animal studies do not suggest strong effects on embryonal development or reproduction."
Robert E.: Intrauterine effects of electromagnetic fields-(low frequency, mid frequency RF, and microwaves): Review of epidemiologic studies. Teratology 59:292-298, 1999.
"There is no convincing data that [electromagnetic field exposure] of the sort pregnant women or potential fathers meet in occupational or daily life exposures does any harm to the human reproductive process . . ."
Brent RL.: Reproductive and teratologic effects of low-frequency electromagnetic fields: A review of in vivo and in vitro studies using animal models. Teratology 59:261-286, 1999.
"Studies involving nonhuman mammalian organisms dealing with fetal growth, congenital malformations, embryonic loss and neurobehavioral development were predominantly negative and are therefore not supportive of the hypothesis that [power-frequency field] exposures result in reproductive toxicity."
Thanks Bec!!! Oh I'm really glad that laptops are fine. Why am I so paranoid this time around? I think its because I am trying this time and really want it to happen, whereas DD was a welcome surprise (and I was working- kept my mind busy).
