just wondering if GP's administer stretch and sweeps? or is this something you need to get done at the hospital? (i am doing shared care) and also when is the earliest you can get a S&S?

i would think the earliest would be 40+weeks. Im not sure about the GP question tho sorry.
It depends on the GP. Mine does but then he practices obstetricas and delivers babies, so Im guess it depends what additional training they have done.
Mine is reluctant to do them at all as hes not really big on inducitons, but I'd say your have to be at least at your EDD.
thanks, i will just have to ask my GP i spose. i am going to GP for week 39 and 40 check up and then hospital for 41weeks. i dont really want to get to 41 weeks if i can help it! :-)
if its a shared care GP then they might, otherwise they can refer you to an OB who should be able to get you in and do it quickly if thats whats you want.
My OB has suggested she may want to try it at 37 weeks.
But I have GD and she wants the bub out by 38 one way or another.
Hi there,
unless your GP is also a GP obs, probably s/he shouldn't do a S&S - they're usually not educated to be able to do them safely. A better person would be a midwife or an OB. Midwives are usually gentler :)
Melissa.
My GP did a S&S for me, but I think as there are no Obs locally & for the local hossy, he is trained in obstetrics too.
