so much pain
i almost have tears as i type! i have had pain in my leg joints/pelvis for most of this pregnancy. about 6 weeks ago it was worse than it had been, but today i can barely walk. the right side is worse than the left, but still painful.
i asked one of the midwives at the birth centre about it, i remember having pain in the last couple of weeks of my last pregnancy, so i was concerned as to why i was feeling it already. she said its just my ligaments loosening up ready for birth, and that i could see an osteopath if it was too bad. i told her it wasnt that bad, just a little uncomfy.
last week when i saw the doctor at the birth centre, i mentioned it again and said it had gotten worse, she said its 'just one of those things that go with being pregnant' i was like, um ok so i just have to live with it? she said basically yes.
is this right?? should i see an osteopath? (i dont even know what they do!) has anyone else suffered like this? its really horrible. i cant stand for too long, and its worse when ive been sitting then stand. im also finding when i drive, it aches when i move my foot from the accelerator to teh brake pedal
i gave work 2 weeks notice as of last sunday, as im finding everything too difficult (take away shop & big belly dont mix too well!) but the way im feeling today, i dont know if i will last till next sunday! (i work wed & thurs 4-8.30pm, and sat & sun 4-8.30pm)

You poor thing. I've never been to an osteopath. A friend of mine goes fairly regularly and swear by it! I belive it is kind of a cross between physio and chiro (ie: massage but they will manipulate you if you want) but I could be wrong.
I had some bowen therapy when I was first pg with Flynn. I'm not sure if they can work on you when 'heavily' (not that you are) pg. It did work wonders tho and so gentle.
For pain relief I like the soluble panadine. When I'm not pg neurofen works best for me. Panadol is rubbish.
Hope you get some relief soon.

You poor thing Rach, I see a chiropractor regularly and have done for a year now due to carpal tunnel syndrome which he`s fixed up for me, I missed a few appointments with him early in the year and two weeks ago I was nearly in tears due to lower back pain, I said okay that`s it I`m making an appointment to see my chiropractor, my goodness the relief was instant, it didn`t take the pain away for about 2 days but it soothed it and it was bearable.
I saw an osteopath about 18 months ago, I`d never go back he just made things 100 times worse but my chiropractor I love, the whole family goes to him, my back is just starting to ache again now but I`m going back to my chiro on Monday.
I think a chiro would do wonders on you hun.

It sounds like you might have SPD? I have it and it was terrible at the end of my last pregnancy. This time around I have been seeing a chiro and my back has been so much better. I highly recommend going to a chiro, if you ring around make sure you find one that is experienced in dealing with pregnant women.

Yep, I second what Trish says except I see a physio. Have no idea who's better but do see someone who specialises in pregnancy.
Do NOT fall for the line that this is all part and parcel of being pregnant.
Here's some more info that may be useful Home
It needs to be carefully managed. I was a bit blase about my problems during pregnancy even though it hurt like buggery because I was given the impression that it would magically disappear after the birth. Erm, that would be a no. Twenty months later and I'm still not back to normal so make sure you do EVERYTHING you can to get on top of it now. I wish I had.

Trish and Fiona, i had a look at that website, and yep, i think thats me!
do i need a referral for a chiro? or can i just go straight and see one? ill definitley be looking into it!
gee.. its nice to know there is actually a 'condition' not just 'one of those things'
thanks girls

No referral is needed hun, just make sure they do work on pregnant women, Good luck with it and I hope it eases your pain

Yep, you definitely don't need a referral.
Good luck, I hope you get some relief!
