working out EDD from LMP
My last AF was 6th January. So would that make me 5 weeks or 5 weeks 1 day? Because when i count on a calender 12th Jan would be day 7 which would be 1 week. But thats not actualy a week because the 6th was a Friday but the 12th was a Thursday, so it's kinda contradicting. So what would i be?

I'm really confused by what you said LOL But going by your LMP I got the 13th October 2006 too!
I worked it out to be 5 weeks, because the LMP is the first day of your first cycle...
*hugs*

Hi Tegan,
My specialist and OB and GP all go by my first day of my last period which makes me 10 wks and 1 day today. Then they do measurements to see how close to the date it actually is. My OB said today if the measurements are less than 5 days to your the first date of your last period they go by this date.

lol sorry. Yeah EDD is 13th october, but when i went to get a ticker it says i'm 5w1d but the one i have now says im 5 weeks. So i looked at a calender and counted from LMP(6th jan) to today and its 36 days which is 5w1d. if that makes more sence? lol

my dr did mine by lmp, and got my edd as 9/8/06, but by u/s it's the 13/8/06. which works out - dh was getting suss, as the only date we did it that week was the 6/11/05, our wedding anniversary!! i find going by your lmp and u/s dates, they're always diff...

yeah but them which am i?5w or 5w1d? It's totally bugging me lol. As i said i counted on a calender from LMP and it's saying i'm 5w1d but i thought i was only 5 weeks. Like on the computer calender(if you have one) count downwards by weeks from 6th jan until today, 10th feb it's 5 weeks. BUT if you count each day from 6th of jan to 10th feb its 36days which equals to 5w1d. Again sorry to confuse but if you look on a calender its prob easier LOL. I know its only a day but it's completely got to me and im a perfectionist!

Tegan don't stress too much over it. My EDD was Aug 13 going by my period, then the Dr did the u/s and said the baby's measurements make the EDD come forward to Aug 10 :-k Then after the scan I had at 12 wks he made it one day closer again to 9th Aug.

Yeah don't worry then lol. I think i confused everyone. But i showed DF and he got what i meant and it doesnt make sence to him either.

LMP is really just a date to give a *rough* estimate of when the baby is due to be born - approximately 40 weeks later. Most women KNOW when AF last visited but ovulation is a little more vague so medically they go on LMP. The specific date is really not that important for most of the pregnancy and only about 3% of bubbies arrive when they are *due*.
I have friends where DH was a little concerned because the calculations on when they were due started when he was O/S :cryinglaugh: We had to do some serious mathematical discussions (and menstrual cycle discussions) to make him feel better - and reassure him he REALLY was the daddy!!

Hi Tegan
There is no way of accurately predicting your EDD. Even if you only have sex once a year it is still not possible to say what your exact EDD will be. For example did the egg and the sperm meet on the day you had sex or was it 3 days later. Sperm can live for up to 5 days. Your EDD is only a guide. As others have said, most babies do not arrive on the due date.

Yeah i know, sorry that's not what i meant. Don't worry lol.
