brainstorming baby names
Hey all,
I'm having fun thinking about baby names for #2 (not yet conceived)... I haven't got a single boys name in mind, as my DS is Xander and there's just no other boys name that speaks to me... so any suggestions would be welcome.
I also have a heap of girls names that I like or don't like for various reasons as I've written below. I love names with a bit of a "fantasy" twist, nothing too conservative (definitely NOT allowed to be top 30 in popularity), and preferrably fairly simple with straightforward spelling... my rule of thumb is this: if a person was to be transported to a magical fantasy land, they shouldn't sound like they're out of place. Tehehe.
Incidentally DH has many rules re no surnames as first names, or place names, or president names etc! Oh and our surname sounds like Lock, so names with lots of "L"s tend to send a bit odd (as do one syllable names).
- Alannah - friends of friends have a girl called this, and it doesn?t sound great with our surname, but we both like it
- Amber - I've always liked this but thought DH didn't, but now he tells me he "quite" likes it.
- Jenna - not so keen on the shortening of Jen, but like it otherwise
- Rhianna - put off because of singer
- Rhiannon - not sure what to shorten this too
- Sasha - DH likes this more than me
- Sienna - put off because of famous actress
- Ysanna - too unusual? I rather like it tho! Wonder how Aussies might massacre this...
Would have liked Hannah but that's already taken by a close family member.
TIA,
Belfie

Giselle
Gemma instead of Jenna if not Jen?
Samara ;)
How is Ysanna pronounced?
Boys names hmm - fantasy land ...
I also had Archer/Archie picked out for Zander - that would fit fantasy stuff mebbe ...
I am pathetic - cos I dont need to think about this anymore I am stuck.

I was gonna go with Jiselle. There's a precedent you know!!!! And Gemma, dunno but nope. Re Ysanna... i THINK "is-anna"... prolly a bad sign if even I'm not sure how to say it! But I think you can really only say "eyes-anna" or "is-anna"
Actually Archer was on our "distant 20th after Xander" list... hmmm that's food for thought.
And you're just saying Samara so she'd get called Sam for short & you can say I named her after you! I know your tricksie tricks alright! But sadly for me, I think Samara is rather lovely!
P.S. nice stalking  you get an e for effort!

I like Sasha. Also I had a friend named Rhiannon. You can shorten it to Rian, Rhi and Annon. I think thats all. Good luck
