1000 thread count sheets

I was lucky enough to find some of these in the xmas sales at 75% off and so bought 2 sets for our bed and piffed the old ones.... the only problem is that they are really crushed after washing.

Is this normal? While I love the feeling of 5star hotel bed linen, they look a bit messy and there is no way in the world i am going to iron my sheets. I has thought that after a few washes they might soften up, but so far no luck.

Any suggestions? A special way to wash? Or is this the trade - off for luxury???

If they're that bad, you could just fold them up and run the iron over the top of the folded sheet. I seem to remember mum doing this sometimes. There's no way I'd stuff around ironing whole sheets either.

hmn - did you hang them up as soon as the wash was finished? I find that you really need to do that, and dont use they dryer - hang them nice and straight and it will really help!

If you have one pop them in the dryer for about 20 mins or less and then hang to dry, that helps out. Or I always use vinegar in my rince cycle in the washing machine and it makes everything, including sheets much softer afterwards. GL

I'm usually pretty good about hanging straight away - only because there is always a queue of washing waiting in the wings... I've tried the dryer which doesn't make much difference, and i'm not too keen on using it anyway unless it is raining etc. Money and energy sucker that I try to only use when necessary.

i'll give the vinegar a go next wash - does it go in the detergent tray? i have a front loader.

I think it's the nature of the beast.. ;) My 1200 are the same - but I iron them because I like the look and feel - Like Liz suggested I fold them in half and iron - it takes all of 10 mins! ;)

ours crease easily. the fitted sheet isnt and issue it decreases after you put it on :D

the top sheet i folda dn run teh iron over teh top then you also get that nice crease down teh middle to help when making the bed lol

I often turn my iron down and iron the fitted sheet while it's on the bed :redface:

You could try putting them in cold water after they've been washed then letting them drip dry. Its what I do when I dont want to Iron.

If you are able to hang them on a line - they tend to be fine - ok not hotel perfect but not like they came straight out of the dryer - thats the worst.

He said almost exactly the same thing last night after buying fancy new sheets.

A sheet is a sheet to me LOL but he LOVES high thread count.

I find if you get the straight out of the dryer when it has finished and fold them up the wrinkles tend not to be too bad. They're definately not hotel standard but look and feel pretty good...

Is there such a thing as crease free mode?? Does this eleviate the need to iron? Me thinks I need a new dryer if this is the case :D

My mum has a crease free option on her dryer but I am not sure exactly what it does.


We have no drier and I never use the iron so wouldn't know :-)

I love 1000 count sheets as well and find that if you can fold them as you take them off the line it helps.... at least loosely rather than just scrunching them back into the basket. I have king sized ones and have never ironed them all over either... well not properly... I have folded then ironed them after about 4 folds.
I also don't use our dryer much: waaaay too expensive unless it's an emergency. On the whole I don't mind the slight creased look... it's worth it fr the feel of them.
