Toddler fears.
DD1 is 2.5 and its like all of a sudden she has become quite fearful of everything.
I know its normal that toddlers get scared but to what extent. This seemed to have come on quickly and built up that now everything scares her, worms, bugs, spiders, the dark, I can understand those things but also bit fluff on her shoes scared her, a group birds took off suddenly and that set her off crying, she just seems at times very jumpy.
Last night she woke full on screaming convinced there were spiders in her bed it took an hour to settle her she was so scared you could see in her eyes she trully believed they were there. We had to go thru whole room to prove nothing was there.
I just wonder if she is more fearful than most kids and what we can do?

My sister filled a spray bottle with water and a few drops of an essential oil. She got her kids to spray whatever scared them (i.e. monsters in the hallway & under the bed, dust bunnies under the bed etc). It worked really well for them.

DS has decided he's scared of the dark now. And he's scared of dogs. We haven't had a lot of 'fear' really tho.
Maybe just keep an eye on what she's seeing on the tv and things too. Their imaginations run wild with the simplest things.

I've read that around 2 is when little ones start to have nightmares. The problem is that they don't understand the difference between dreams and reality. So if she was dreaming her bed was full of spiders no wonder she would find it hard to believe that it wasn't when she woke up. Perhaps the odd nightmare every now and then has brought that element of fear into real life.
Maybe you could start talking to her about dreams and sleep... Maybe start asking her what she dreamed about when she wakes up so that the concept becomes more familiar or even talking about your dreams when you wake up... It's a lot to comprehend when you're 2.5 but over time I'm sure she will come to understand...

Thanks girls some good suggestions in there! I don't think I've helped the situation much cause I hate bugs and spiders and have in the past screamed on the odd occasion when finding a huntsman or ****roach. So that would have implanted in her head about them being scary.
