After some thoughts as to what this might be:
Matthew has been sensitive to any loud noises for a few months, it now seems to be getting worse where last night he was nearly in tears over a noise Adrian was making, he also can`t stand water in his ears, I didn`t realise this till he started swimming lessons.
I have made an appointment at the GP`s but just after some thoughts as to what could the reason be behind this.

Poor little Matthew, i know how hard it can be for the kids when this is going on. Aaron didnt suffer so much with loud noises he was in fact the opposite he couldnt hear them which worried me so i took him to a ENT Specialist and here it was discovered that he had a severve case of glue ear he was sent for a hearing test and with the results from this test the Specialist reccommended having grommits in and having his adenoids removed to help the situation and it worked wonderfullly...he had a hearing test 13 days after the surgery and amazingly he hearing was back to normal.
I would definately take Matthew to have it checked out now and dealt with as soon as possible, he will probably go on a waiting list and they can be long so the quicker he gets on the better. Goodluck with it all, thinking of you x

Has your little boy had re-occuring ear infections.....sometimes the ear cannals get blocked or badly clogged up with wax,glue ear is very common in young children,we have had two that have gone in and had Grommits done,you need a referal to an (ENT) Ears,Nose & Throat specialist,followed by a couple of hearing tests after a few weeks.
The hearing test don`t hurt at all. If you leave it,too long you might find your little one may have problems with speech,pronouncing words wrong......one of our son`s had to attend Speech Therapy. Good Luck,hun.:hug:

Leah - I have an appointment with the GP tomorrow, I didn`t know what avenue to go to first, a private hearing specialist or the GP, so decided the GP will tell me what to do.
Mum Of Many - Matthew has never had an ear infection, he`s also been asking us to repeat ourselves at times, it doesn`t happen all the time but at least once a day he`ll say 'Mummy/Daddy (whoever he`s talking to) what did you say, I didn`t hear you?" Sometimes we have to repeat ourselves 2 or 3 times before he can hear us correctly but as I say it doesn`t happen all the time but does everyday so perhaps he does have glue ear or something along those lines????
