I had a diathermy of the cervix about 12 years ago. Has anyone had the same surgery and did it affect your pregnancy? My ob mentioned the rare chance that it could result in preterm delivery but I wanted to know about your experiences.

I have not had the same procedure, but have had 3 x D&C's (plus a forceps delivery), which may have weakened my cervix. My Obstetrician has chosen for me to have fortnightly ultrasounds, beginning at 14 weeks, to measure the length of my cervix. This is called, "cervical surveillance". Should it shorten, a preventative stitch will be put in place. This stitch does carry a MC risk, so that is why we have gone for surveillance first.
