Hi Kate :)
Is the conference right in freo?..you mean hotel?
Yeah, hotel. Conference is near the Esplanade Station (if you know where that is), going by google maps. Just looking for a clean place with a bed and an ensuite. What sort of cost would i be looking at each night?
i have offer of a place a bit further away, but preferably want somewhere walking distance from the conference.
Last minute dot com... only gave me one option
(Sorry, yeah not looking for a couch to crash on, just wondering if you know of places i can book)
There's a place called tybach that I was going to stay in once...but they ended up being booked.
It's a bit out of Fremantle but on their website they said it's very close to the bus service that comes every 10 minutes...
It's a very cool place at the back of someone's house...
Otherwise check out the websites of stayz and ozstays
They seem to have lots of different alternatives.
Cheers!
Probably just the Esplanade Hotel in Freo? Then that would be walking distance to anywhere in Freo.
I think the Esplanade Station is the bus/train station in freo is it?. I could be wrong! ..but I do know there is also an Esplanade station in the city too (Perth).
Yeah, it's on Marine Tce, i can see Fremantle oval on google maps is pretty close.
There are heaps more places on ozstays. Thanks, i didn't know of that site before.
There is the Esplanade Hotel which i right in Freo.
Rosie O'Grady's is a pub that has accomodation.
If you have a look at the website stayz there are some options of accomodation on there.
Quest Harbour Village
Norfolk Hotel.
I love freo, it is such a laid back place to visit- very artsy and alternative, they have markets and street performers etc. I hope you get a chance to have a look round while you are over here!
i was looking at rosie o'gradys. i hope to get time to look around. anything i should definately not miss?
Little Creatures! Brewery + restaurant...
Fantastic brewery with some of the best beer (think "Rogers" won world title one year!)...
Great food...great atmosphere...though it's probably best if you go with some people from the conference...not really a place you can hang out by yourself!
If you're into arty things, Fremantle Arts Centre is pretty cool...have a great little gift shop and cafe in the courtyard is great for lunch!
I have booked an apartment on Adelaide St. Worked out cheaper than a hotel, and i get my own bathroom. I arrive in Perth at 9pm, and then will catch a taxi or a shuttle to Freo.
I have to pick keys up from Arundle st and then go to Adelaide St. It's about 1km. I don't think the shuttle will do both (i haven't checked yet). Is Freo safe enough to walk 1km at 10pm on a Friday night?
Otherwise, i can get a taxi, get them to stop to pick up keys and then take me to the apartment. The shuttle costs $35, and a taxi about $50.
What do you think?
quick questions- is Freo safe to walk around at 10pm on a friday night?
what's weather like? (i am coming from Melbourne.)
ta
I think it's pretty safe..but sometimes, as anywhere I guess there can be dodgy people around at night. On a Friday night, there should be plenty of people around though. Just keep to main streets.
Weather, evenings can be a little chilly and Freo is usually a bit breezey too..in the day may vary, but a light jumper would probably do the trick I reackon! (right now I just have a short sleeve short on, and 3/4 leggings and we around the area).
Have fun!
Avoid the area around Parry street at any time of day or night, i go there every saturday for my osteopath, and the park there always has "hobos" (to say it politely), drinking, being noisey etc. But if you stick to the main streets, malls you should be fine.
I'd probably catch the taxi, given that you have two stops...
Also saves you having to carry your bags around too.
Hope you enjoy your stay!!!
