Just wondering what opinions there are out there of the male fertility multi vitamin Menevit

This is not going to help you at all, but DH and I always giggle at the name. It just seems a little silly.
I'm not sure what's in there. But when DH and I were TTC our first child he took a multivitamin that contained things like zinc. Zinc is meant to be good for the little swimmers...

hi
i say it cant hurt
i have my dh taking a basic mens multi vit that the lady at the health food place recommended. it has the same things in it just not to the same strengths.
good luck
Dutchie I have heard good things about it and my DP is taking it. Apparently the main important ingredients are Folate, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.

Our FS said it was really important to take and I know it was a combination of many things, but our 1st cycle after DH started taking it, we got our BFP. Also our embies were a lot better quality.
I'd say it definitely can't hurt anyway..
All the best

Our new FS just told DH to start taking it. I came home and googled and found that before it was generally available for purchase by the public, some fertility clinics were giving it to their patients for the partners to take.
I would think a practitioner-only male fertility multi would be better. They are more potent than commerically available products, might be worth seeing a naturopath if you are serious about a good formula?
Hi Dutchie,
DH is taking Menevit, even though we have no real sperm issues, FS and the embryologist recommended it as apparently the stats show a higher % take home baby rate. We started taking it after our 4th BFN, just in case there were issues with sperm fragmentation etc, tests done a month or so showed DH had 'excellent' sperm, I can only assume that this has helped.
Also, it is only one tablet per day, very easy for DH to remember/take, I has all sorts of trouble when I was giving him different supplements and he was whinging and forgetting to take.
GL and big hugs
Hi Dutchie, I had heard the same as BDT with regards to the % take home rate from clinical trials and I have had my DH on it for the last month and although they say that you should be using it for 3 months we have just done our 1st IVF cycle and got a fert rate of 14 out of 15 and I definitely think that it has to do with the Menevit.. (DH not the healthiest human I know).. It works out at about $1.00 a day and I figure for the cost of our IVF it was nothing and ditto to BDT again for only having DH take one tablet... Good luck Dutchie..
i agree with Kelly however it will be better than not taking anything
we take our own perscribed by a NP who says there is not enough zinc or something in it
GL
I would recomend it any day ,my dh has been taking it for a while and it really helped with our last ivf cycle
good luk
Thank you all very much ladies, your comments are all very encouraging.
Well, I think Im convinced- menevit for the man it is!
Kelly- thanks for the tip about the naturopath, something to definitely keep in mind and look further into.
Thank you again to everyone for your opinions. My IVF clinic said it was basically a waste of $, baffled as to why if other IVF clinics are advising their male patients to take it. Oh well, we certainly have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
My DH had a SCSA test (for sperm DNA fragmentation) and result came back as 30% (poor), then he was on Menevit for about 3 weeks, second test is 10% (excellent). So he is on that ever since...
Good luck hun!
Thanks CPie, those results are excellent and very encouraging. My DP is now officially taking them as well.
BDT- I can also relate to the trouble of getting DP to take his multis/supplements. I cant imagine trying to convince him to go to a naturopath and then to take what they advised, Ive had a hard enough time convincing him to take 1 menevit but he is now and Im very grateful. Ill definitely keep the naturopath in mind though.
My IVF clinic doesnt believe in them, but my thinking is how can many people all saying similar things all be wrong.
Thanks again ladies - very helpful.
3 months after my DF started taking them we concieved naturally despite his low count and very low morphology, i believe it works! even if its just the mental aspect it feels like your doing something!
Thanks 21 & congratulations!!!
Hi dutchie,
I like dutchies. You guys have the best accent.
Now more to the point. DH took menevit. He had no sperm. After taking menevit he had a 5% improvement. But no real improvement to enable us to have a baby naturally. I say it does help a little but if your issues are like my DH I'd say keep your money.
bye for now
Redlady
Thanks Redlady, a 5% improvement on no sperm is pretty amazing, I hope you find success soon.
BTW- Im not actually dutch & dont have an accent. Born and raised in melb, dutchie was my cats name- well it was Dutch but I called him Dutchie all the time.
I had a bit of a giggle though.
