about to TTC question
Hi,
I am new. Hubby decided we are now financially secure enough to start a family, I have been on iron with folic acid and b and c vitamins for a bout a month tho they are a lower dose then the 400mcg recommended (low iron levels so on and off iron supplements). My question is should i wait a while and start taking pre natal vitamins? also my gp said something about whooping cough booster has anyone else had this?
Now the TMI part, i finished my last sugar pill on saturday night, and sunday monday tuesday at 5pom took normal pills, however i will stop them now (no more since yesterday) will i bleed again? what should i expect in relation to periods and hormonal changes? (i have been on monofeme 1 phase/lvl or hormone and only for 9 months).
I was told by my GP it is ok to start ttc as soon as off the pill as the waiting a month/cycle is not medical but a charting cycle issue?
Thanks for any info you can give.

Hiya, How exciting that you are now ready to start TTC! Good luck and I hope that you don't have to wait too long to get your BFP.
I took Folic acid at the suggested level for a month before we started trying properly. I did it because its a very important part of TTC and I don't know of anyone who has ever said that it's not an important step to take in TTC preparation. I would speak to your GP about which is the best to take with your iron levels but you definately need in increase the Folic Acid to the recommended amount.
With regard to coming off the pill that is just a mystery and everyone is different. Some people get their period exactly when they expect it and others don't get them until the next month and still others have an ever longer wait. There is just no telling. If you don't get AF within the next month I would also see your GP and ask about having some tests done. Some GP's will ask you to wait alittle longer and other will get you to have a test.
Good luck on your TTC journey.

Hi, congratulations on making the decision to start on your TTCing journey. I hope that it is a very short and happy journey for you!
I started on folate supplements about 3 months before I started TTCing. I've read that it's good to start them from between a month to 6 months before TTCing, so it looks like the jury is still out on exactly when is best to start them. I figure if it doesn't hurt you, then you might as well start them as soon as you can. Then I started my pregnancy vitamins the day I got my BFP.
Like AussieGirl said, each woman is different when it comes to their body getting back into a regular cycle. I was lucky and my cycle was regular from the moment I stopped taking the pill. But the there are horror stories about some people waiting months/years for things to get back to normal. Fingers crossed you are one of the lucky ones.
I definitely recommend temping to learn more about your body and your cycle. If you don't know much about temping, then try googling fertilityfriend and have a look at their site. It's full of great information and you can join for free and use their websites to monitor and track your temping chart. I found it quite fun to do and it made me feel like I was being more pro-active about getting pregnant.
All the best on your journey!!!
Oh, and here is a link to the current TTC 1-6 Months thread.
