Help Needed !! My Twins Wont Eat Dinner...

Well as most of you know i have twin daughters that are 4 years old and for a while now dinner time is mayhem in our house. The twins eat breakfast fine, the normally have a big bowl of cereal each or 2 pieces of toast each which im happy with, They snack throughout the day which most children do, Then for lunch they normally have a sandwich, yogurt, sausage roll or tin spaghetti another meal i have no probs with but as soon as dinner time come around at 6 the start saying their hungry and i tell them im cooking tea well they yell and shout i dont want dinner but they say there hungry. Then once dinner is ready i put everyones out and dp and i eat all of ours chanel has 3 or 4 mouthfuls and hannah has one they get down from the table and muck around im at my whits end ive tried so many times to say you are not getting down from the table until you have a few more mouthfuls of dinner but i have no luck i end up arguing with two 4 year olds and after 20 mins i give up because i have dishes, washing, bath time and bed time to deal with then after bath time we have quiet time then bed time and when its bed time they say im hungry im hungry and by then im so annoyed that there dinner has sat on the table since 6 oclock and they refuse to touch it but as soon as bed time comes around they want something else to eat. I want to try the hard approach and say nope no food as you didnt eat your tea but i feel bad i cant put them to bed without something in their tummys. Anyone have some dinner time advice it really appreciate it.
Mind you hannah is a horrible child she wont eat anything.....

used to have the same probs when my twins were the same age!
in the end if they didnt eat their dinner, i would put it in the fridge and if they got hungry later, then they could finish their dinner then. They other thing is to try offering them dinner at a different time. In the end we use to offer dinner at say 5pm instead and then supper if they ate all their dinner , just before bedtime.
so it would be lunch at 12pm
arvo tea around 2ish
dinner at 5pm and supper at 7

when they start kinder/school you will find that this issue settles down more as their lives become more regimented!

thanx hun they started kindy last week so i hope it settles down except now hannah wont eat her lunch at kindy and wants to pig out when shes gets home at 3... so that prob makes things worse for me trying to get her to eat dinner.:wall::wall:

fruit smoothies were my saviour after kindy for arvo tea
low GI fruits as well as high GI ones
such as bananas, mango, watermelon, oranges - what ever you have got

enough to keep them sustained, but not to fill them up for dinner
i would also give them their vitamins in the arvo as well- keeps them perked up and not grumpy!
it will get easier!

Thanx thats a great idea i think will try it... chanel loves fruit so shes easy but hannah is a devil shes harder to please
