... After a c-section did you stay in hospital?
Six nights first time, five the second.
I was itching to get out of there with the second, and only stayed the fifth night because the staples were coming out the next day and if I didn't stay a midwife would have to come to the house and take them out.
Five nights
4 nights x x
7 nights with DD, but I was sick.
I think only 5 with DS.
5 nights both times with normal/uncomplicated caesars.
ETA: Both public hospitals in Melbs- Birralee and Mercy Heidleberg.
4 nights :)
I went Private and stayed 5 nights. (2 nights were at Park Hyatt hotel thought)
Generally in the big public hospitals you stay 3 nights.
2 nights in public
I stayed 3 nights but pushed to leave, hate being in hospital and just wanted to get home
2 nights in public, couldn't wait to get home!
5 nights and that was only after a lot of begging and sweet talking to my ob! But I'd had a large blood transfusion which contributed to the longer stay.
First time was 6 nights and second was 2 nights
anyone at Royal Womens' Hospital?
With DS, 5 days
Dunno how long it's gonna be with this little miss

5 nights both times
Royal Women's is 4 nights I think.
4 nights, was supposed to be 5 but I cracked the poos and discharged my self!
six days - c-section with complications. I could not stand up straight, or walk without holding onto the wall when i went home. Felt like i'd been run over by a truck. Could not stand up long enough to make a sandwich, could not bathe my own child (too weak).
First one was 4 nights both my 2nd and 3rd were 3 nights. All in the same public hospital.
3 nights and 3 days, both my c-sections where late afternoon/evening...one classical cut and one LSCS
I wanted to get home but it was so, so hard to have to leave my babies behind it the nursery :(
2 nights with dd2
1 night with dd1 but I discharged myself so I could follow her to a hossy with a nicu.
6 nights for me in private. Could've gone home after 4 as I recovered really well, but I was enjoying being looked after, and DH got sick so I would've had him and a newborn to look after at home if I'd left early.
I'm going to the women's and OB told me 3-4
I stayed at RWH for 3 days, and then was moved to the Royal Children's Post Natal Mother's Unit for 2 nights and then moved to Ronald Mac.
7 nights, 8 days
For those who left after 1 or 2 days, did this work for you?
For those who stayed longer, do you think you needed the extra time?
For me, it worked well. I didn't have a baby to take home. I didn't want to be in the post natal ward with all the screaming babies. They gave me more than enough pain relief to take home and home is where we needed to be
I was in for 3 nights, I would have loved to leave earlier and I felt very capable of going home, but DS was jaundiced and being monitored. (This was at RWH)
5 nights. I think the standard is 5 nights in private and 3 or 4 in public.
Yup 2 nights was more than enough for me, but dd1 was staying ay mums and DH was on leave so I had help and no other kids to look after!!
Im loving all you ladies saying 2 nights! I'm booked in for the 23rd :o would love it if all goes well to be home Christmas arvo. :crossfingers:
Depending on how your feeling you could always check yourself out :dunno:
Friend of mine just left after one night discharged herself:clap: never herd of it being that quick tho
I've just added ds1 little elf suit from last year to my hossy bag haha the OB said I had to stay at least one night. I had major surgery after a virginal birth with DS1 and discharged myself the next day. I'll have plenty of help from DH and my mum. Just need everything to go well with both bub and I so I can spend Christmas with all my boys at my home coz I hate hospitals
I felt that I did need it both times, mainly because I was getting the nurses to help me all through the night to express every 3 hours, and feed him every 3-4 hours as well so I was pretty exhausted from that, but was determined not to have to wait until day 5 for my milk to come in. It did finally come in on day 3 which was great and we had lots of help with DD at home with ILs and mum mum so it worked for us and for me to get some extra rest before going home. I also had my own room at the Mercy - just happened to be a 2 bed room but with just me in it. If I was sharing with someone else I am sure it might have been a different story!
3 days with all 5 of them but my first they were asking the 2nd morning if i wanted to go home then with my last i wanted to stay 5 nite cause i knew the minute i got home mil would leave and df couldnt take time off work but they said on day 3 they didnt have the room for me to stay longer
1 night for me. After 35+ hrs of labour and an emergency c/s it really wasn't enough but DH looked after me well at home.
5 days
