Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
We're all very quiet now. Guess we're just busy with our little bubbas :)
Hope everyone is going well.
Me and Max and doing great. I'm just waiting for him to wake up so I can feed him...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi Ladies, A and myself are recovering well after a really positive experience. He drank my colostrum dry and also my 90ml stash so we ended up doing formula top up til my milk came in yesterday. Now on boob only, home yesterday and he put on 30gms in 24 hours.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Nyigi thanks for posting the summary. Will be nice to see how all the other girls ended up!
Mumma T sounds like your lil one is doing really well! Awesome weight gain for 24hours. I actually ordered a set of baby scales so I can weigh Emma at home. Getting out to a clinic with 3 kids will be impossible.
Even though this is my 3rd I still question everything I do and what's normal. Even tho my DS is 2 years old I forget what's normal.
Emma at the moment sleeps poops and feeds. With very little awake time well I feel like she is just awake to feed and then passes out. Except for last night where she was unsettled and awake for ages. Is this what everyone else's bub's are doing? Don't remember my other 2 sleeping this much.

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Going ok. Pretty tired and not getting much time to look at the forum.
DS1 is sick and rather pathetic about it. Really hoping he's feeling better in the morning. I'm also really hoping that the rest of us, especially DS2 don't get it!
Max is going really well. He's generally very relaxed which really helps being the second child. He's awake more and more and is normally staying awake between feeds a couple of times a day.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi all, glad to hear we are all doing well.
I haven't popped in here for a bit as super busy with the boys and packing and organising. We fly out in a few hours which is so exciting. Will pop back in once we have settled to catch up on what's going on.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
I swear all I do is feed, DS2 seems to be insatiable. I am doing 1 formula top up a day. He still has day and night backwards but that's just time. DS1 just adores his brother and already tries to do knuckles with him lol.
Overall we are doing well .
Good luck with the move MrsOM.
Nyigi hope your DS keeps his illness to himself

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi ladies!
I just found this section! I had our little daughter on the 6th October via emergency c section (after 30 hours of labour!) My waters broke on 5th at about 3pm, they induced me the following morning, I was fully dilated by 7pm, and was pushing for an hour or so, nothing was happening so they did trial vacuum which was unsuccessful, and little Willow was born at 9:29pm by c section, 2980g and 49cm long. She is just magical :) We have been trying to breastfeed, but she still isn't latching on properly, so I don't think it will be happening for much longer.
I'm so happy for all of you too! I'll be stalking this section now ;)

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Congratulations on your little lady Kel08. Sounds like it was a long hard time getting her here.
Breastfeeding can be hard can't it, I am having to feed with shields, have you tried them for latch? Or maybe call the ABA for some help?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Congratulations Kel08! Sounds like it was quite a struggle. I hope you're healing up ok and quickly.
Sorry to hear the breastfeeding isn't going well. Have you talked to a lactation consultant?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Using shields here too! They can be annoying but love that I can breastfeed!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Thats exactly my thoughts too LC85. DS2 was shredding my nipples apart without them and he seems able to get way more in his tummy now too.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Yes, I was using the nipple shields and expressing, and have been to a couple of lactation consultants too, but I don't have much milk either, I had her on for an hour the other night (both sides), and she screamed for another hour after that until I gave her formula, and she had the full bottle so she wouldn't have got much breast milk :( Also when I express, not much comes out either. I was really upset at first with not really being able to do it, but I find it easier everyday, and I feel less guilty with each day as well. I gave it a good go for 3 weeks. She also had jaundice and was in the special care nursery where they had to keep giving her formula to top her up as well, so we haven't really had much luck with breast feeding right from the start. But all that matters is she is healthy and happy, and she is both of those :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Kel08 you are completely right in that the most important thing is that these kiddo's are getting 5he nutrition they need whether the be bottle or breast.
My DS1 was formula fed from 2 weeks old and he is a thriving 2 1/2 year old now, besides you can't tell if someone was breast or formula fed when you walk down the street so doesn't seem like such a big deal to me :)

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
So quiet in here! How's everyone doing??
Getting used to have 3 rugrats now! Feels like Emma has always been here. DD & DS have been so good with her.
Emma has been sleeping great! Getting 5-7hr stretch at night. Although the last few nights haven't been as good and notice she's more windy! 😔
Forgot how many nappies you go through with a newborn!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
We are doing well here too, still waking every 3 to 4 hours max for feeds and I can't see that changing anytime soon as he is such a hungry little man. Very windy but is slowly improving, I am hoping DS2 will have the wind sorted by about 6 weeks as I am not getting much sleep between a toddler (so cant sleep during the day) and being up pretty much all night trying to get the wind out. Feeding is going well and my supply is now good so not having to do top ups at all.
The number of nappies is amazing isn't it LOL
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Poor bugger. Can ur partner help with with ur toddler at all? . I'm very lucky in that hubby has taken over night duties for the other 2 kids. They don't normally wake at night but last night they were up 6 times between each other so hubby had a crap night. But means I only have to get up to bub.
Have u been using anything for the wind? I've been giving infants friend a little bit.
Fingers crossed the wind settles and u get some long stretches soon so u can get more sleep! 😄
Great to hear u aren't having to top of. That's awesome.
Just feeding now and attempted without the shield. Latest all of a minute lol. It's a work in progress.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
My hubby helps with DS1 but he just wants to be with mummy so no chance to catch up during the day, oh well I know its only a few more weeks and then should improve.
Even a minute off the shield is good for first attempt. I managed to feed without the shield on the right side yesterday but not the left. I have s bit much milk at the start of the feed for DS2 to latch without so I am undecided whether to try without again or not.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Congrats mumma t on the no more top ups.
Wow lc 5-7 hours sounds awesome. Max is still every 3 or so hours.
DH and DS1 have been pretty sick for the past couple of weeks. So far max and I have largely avoided it but I'm still dreading little max getting sick too.
I've been trying to write job applications but I really just want to hang out with the boys and rest.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Urgh I'm tired just spent the evening with max at the hospital while they decided what to do with him. He's definitely sick now but in the end they decided not to admit him. Glad to be going home. Though it will be midnight by the time we get there. Really hope all my boys get better soon!
Hope everyone else is going well.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Oh no thats terrible Nyigi. I hope that he improves quickly. How are you all settling in now. I have been busy applying for jobs and have found a few interesting potentials. DS2 is vomitting a fair bit after feeds but I think its because he is gutsing his food and has a fair bit of wind, oh well it should start to settle in the next couple of weeks.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Thanks Mumma T, he's doing a bit better so far today so fingers crossed. DS1 is still sick though he's on antibiotics now and improving. I just want everyone to be better. Sick of trying to keep DS1 away from his beloved little brother to try to limit contamination...
Other than everyone except me being sick we're settling in really well.
Oh I didn't know you were also applying for jobs. Good luck! What kind of thing are you looking for?
I'll be really glad when I've sent off the job application I'm working on now. Applications in my field are pretty involved so it's been quite a lot of work and hard to juggle between looking after the kids. Looking forward to taking a little break before the next application.
Yeah DS1 had the same spewing and wind problem. Hope it settles down soon.
So far DS2 is handling my fast let down much better but I also don't think it's nearly as fast as it was with DS1. DS2 still gets some wind but he's dealing with it ok.

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hello everyone. Not sure if anyone reads this anymore, but I thought I'd let you know that I've finally posted my birth story. Hope you're all going well.

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi Nyigi!
Back in nov the belly belly app wasn't working so I deleted to reinstall and now can't find it hence why I haven't been around.
Will pop over and read your birth story
How r u going with bubs?
Emma is 9 weeks old now and probably my best baby so far. She's pretty relaxed, sleeps pretty well at night and self settles during the day now. But of a handful with 3 kids but I'm managing.

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi LC!
Going great. Max is also a really awesome baby, relaxed happy and sleeping really well. Except he's sick again now. Gosh I'm finding 2 a handful, no idea how you're doing 3.
I'm finding my 5 yr old much more work than my 2 month old. Any one else finding the older ones more work? I wasn't expecting it...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi Ladies, DS2 is now 10 weeks old and doing great. We have had awful time of it until about 2 weeks ago with colic, its dissipating now but we still get about 3 nights a week bad.
He is breastfed with only the occasional formula top up because my supply can't keep up or I am shattered tired. Finding the night feeds much harder this time, DS1 was sleeping through the night by now so I think I had some false hope that DS2 would be the same.
I agree with you Nyigi on the older one being harder work! And I can guarantee I am not having more kids lol. We ate toilet trading DS1 at the moment so I am feeling the combined effort especially with no hot water service. It died 2 days before Christmas and we can't get the part til at least tomorrow as all the plumbing supply places are closed.
That's us in a nutshell.

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi Nyigi! Glad to hear Max has been an awesome baby. Hope he is feeling better now.
Haha yes 3 can sometimes be a handful. My older 2 go to day care 2 days a week which gives me a nice break!!
Yes I am finding my almost 4 yo is a handful. The attitude and stubbornness is crazy!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi Mumma T. Sorry to hear about the colic. It's a hard time my son was shocking worth it.
I know what u mean about struggling with night feeds. Emma is back to waking up twice a night and I am exhausted.
Hope u got your hot water back quickly that must have been a nightmare!!
Hear u on the toilet training. We just toilet trained my 2.5yo. Thankgoodness it only took a week. So many things to think about and worry about with these kids. It's hard work!!
Emma was 3 months old yesterday. She is becoming fussy at naptime it's like she knows I'm walking out of the room now. Also having a hard time getting her to take a bottle.

Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Awww what a cutie, DS2 is 3 months today, seriously where has the time gone. I feel a little sad i will never get these early months again but i am loving watching my two boys grow and adore each other. I think we will try toilet training DS1 again soon urgh
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Hi guys. Oh what a cutie.
Here's a pic of mine :)
Clearly it's a bit colder here :)
Yeah I feel the same Mumma T. I can't believe he's 3 months already. Sad to see the end of the newborn time but also happy to see him growing up and showing more personality.
Unfortunately Max got well and then sick again and is now pretty sick with the flu. We've had a couple of trips to the hospital this week (he's not breathing great) but so far have avoided being admitted. Really hoping the medicine he's on now helps him get all better soon. And now DS1 and DH are starting to get sick again too...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Nyigi whst a cutie you hsve there.
What an awful time of it you have all had with illnesses, i hope you get a break soon
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Thanks. I really hope so too.
I hope your little one's colic has cleared up and you have hot water again, that must have been awful.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Yes we have hot water again, we got it back on the 30th.
DS2's colic has mostly cleared up, we do have some days where he still suffers but its only for around an hour rather than 3-5 hours so a vast improvement.
I am still breastfeeding but will need to wean for some feeds shortly as I will with any luck have a job soon.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Yay for hot water and for improvement with the colic. Fingers crossed it continues.
Max is worse today so we're going back to the doctor in a couple of hours. We'll see if we stay out of hospital again...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Poor little thing, at least he will be in the best place for being sick. Get better quickly little man
-
Re: Babies Born ~ October 2014
Thanks mumma t! He ended up getting much worse on Saturday and was admitted to hospital that evening. We're still here and he's doing much better with some extra oxygen. Here's hoping he gets all better soon.
