HCG hell
Things aren't going as we had hoped. For the last couple of days I have been experiencing some spotting (not bright red) and had a repeat BT last Sat. The nurses reassurred me that it is the progesterone pessaries due to being on 4 per day. Apparently these are hostile to the vag and somewhat abbrasive, which can lead to spotting etc. I have had AF type pains but nothing I wouldn't normally experience 3-4 days before AF. My spotting and paranoia continued so this morning I demanded a repeat BT. My results are below
DPO14 = 84
DPO17 = 369
DPO19 = 870
DPO21= 1450
The nurse/dr have suggested that due to the low result of todays that I must have a scan in the morning to check for possible ectopic pregnancy.
We don't know what to think :(

Hang in ther Smudge...
I can only imagine how anxious you feel...but know that I'm thinking of you...
All the best for tomorrow morning...
-
Oh Smudge...we have been on the same journey this week...hang in there it sucks...take care of yourself I've had an ectopic rupture and it's really scarey...don't think any question is too silly to ask thedoc and tell them everything even if you think it's TMI...ectopics can be tricky...I'll be praying for you and your little one xxx
-
Oh Smudge, hang in there...hope tomorrow's scan will prove all is ok...
Thinking of you....x
-
Hang in there and try not to stress, best of luck tomorrow hugs

Goodluck today Smudge :pray: it all goes well.
-
Good luck Smudge, I'm sorry you've not been able to relax yet, but hopefully today's scan will show all is well!
-
Thinking of you Smudge, hope all went well at your scan today.
-
Hi Smudge, I hope all went well in your scan today, I'm worried about you and praying everything is ok :pray:
-
Thanks so much for your thoughts. It appears as though it is not ectopic which is a bonus.
We had a fill in Dr which didn't make things easier. They did find a sac which measured 4mm but apparently too small. She told us it is likely to miscarry on its own so no need for D&C. I have a repeat BT on Friday to confirm my levels have dropped. She has instructed me to continue the pessaries and oestrogen, prolong the pain?
We feel terrible, so lost
-
:hug: Smudge, thinking of you and saying a prayer for you for Friday. Don't give up hope yet. Lots of love.

Thinking of you Smudge...hang in there...lots of hugs xxx

Hoping for a miracle for you on Friday....

I contacted the nurse yesterday to advise that AF had arrived and that I was finishing up the pessaries etc and she suggested that we bring the BT forward to this morning to confirm levels. I could only assume that AF wasn't as heavy as normal due to the progesterone and could take a few days to really come through.
Would you believe my hcg levels came back at 4,295 (from 1,450 Mon)
We still have our scan appt for Tue so we'll know for sure then. Frankly we're not sure how to feel? Just ludicrous. Maybe the Dr saw something in the report that suggested it was a 'dealbreaker' that the nurse is failing to see?
Does anyone have any experience with a blighted ovum? Do levels continue to grow like ours and were there any signs of this?
Back in limbo..
-
not to mess you up or anything but I have known mums who bleed big time but still go on to have normal pregnancy ... :pray:
is it possible it was twins ? clutching at straws but it has been known for heavy bleeding to be losing one and other to continue ...
blighted ovum sorry I don't know about but I would be asking for another scan - when you are at least 6.5wks -IYKWIM - those levels seem good to me - try putting them into a HCG calculator for doubling times.
-
Oh Smudge, this is just awful. I agree though, your levels do seem good??
I'm still hoping for some kind of miracle for you and your DH.
-
i am praying for you and sending you a big hug.:pray: :grouphug:
-
Smudge - have you spoken to Flowerchild in the other TTC/PG threads ? She is very knowledgeable about EVERYTHING...i hope she can help you out. Good luck that everything goes well fo ryou.
-
Smudge, I am praying for you :pray:
-
How are you going Smudge? I am wondering too if you perhaps had a multiple pregnancy my love. Those figures are now doing the right thing. Do you know what your progesterone level was and if it had remained stable?
It's a long wait until Tuesday for you and I so feel for you. This must be so torturous. You have reason to have some hope here with those figures.
A blighted ovum is basically a pregnancy that doesn't have proper cell division and so therefore doesn't develop properly. Typically these do not have good increases nor high figures.
Wishing you lots of luck and I will be looking forward to hearing your news on Tuesday... :hug:
-
Aww - thanks everyone.
I only had the one emby transferred, it was a day3 / 10 cell. FS was very happy with it. As much as we would love twins..Dr's orders!
Well we have made it this far and no more bleeding so that is a good sign (I think!)
Thanks for the input Flowerchild - on that BT my prog had risen to 39.59 so that was an improvement. The nurse suggested that I must be beginning to produce my own. I hope so.
I'll be back tomorrow... :)
-
Smudge, I'll be praying real hard that you get good news tomorrow. It must be utter hell having to continue in limbo for so long.
Did you have a blastocyst transferred? My clinic had to discard a couple of embryos that got to blastocyst stage because they could see that they lacked the bits that would form either the baby or the placenta. I'm making some huge assumptions here, but getting to blastocyst stage should rule out blighted ovum as a possibility.
Hang in there! Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

-
that's the best news Smudge - congrats hun!
-
Oh Smudge, I am so thrilled for you...wish you a very smooth ride from now on and enjoy your pregnancy...
To answer your question, we are having a natural FET and transfer will be around early June...so there is minimum effort on the cycle which is good...yes, we had pretty much similar timing on Clomid and IVF 1st cycle isn't it? Have been following your progress and I am so so happy for you, hope I will follow your suit soon...
Take care hun
-
Oh Smudge - What an awful time you've been through sweety. I'm so sorry I haven't been around to lend you some support. That is such great news that you got a heartbeat, and that things seem to be going along okay.
