Evap or BFP???

I'm 9 DPO and today I've done about 5 pregnow (internet cheapies) tests (using FMU and other times of the day) and all have come back with a very, very, very faint 2nd line. I thought I was just seeing things but they are definitely there. I wasnt going to show my DH coz I thought he would tell me I'm seeing things but he can actually see the 2nd line as well. I'm not convinced though coz I know internet cheapies are known for having evaporation lines. I really, really would love to be pregnant coz we've been trying for our 2nd child for 22 months and have had a couple of miscarriages. I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Can anyone shed some light on these tests and whether they think they could be evap lines or indeed my most wanted BFP

well it sounds like a BFP to me!! yes one or two may be evap lines but 5 tests all showing a second line sounds like a positive! can u see the 2nd line from an arms length away? considering they are over the internet and obviousky have not convinced u a 100%, i would strongly suggest u spend a little money on a worth while cause and get another brand. i would say Clearblue Digital will put ur mind at rest as the results come up in words ie: "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant". i had 2 POAS tests and there was a faint line on each but maybe not as faint as urs, so to make me feel completely sure before i made a trip to doc to get a blood test, i grabbed a clearblue and it re-assured me that i am "Pregnant"!!!
so in short, it sounds like u have a BFP but i would suggest try another brand with maybe 2 tests in it so u can clear ur mind of any doubts and enjoy ur pregnancy! Good luck and lots of sticky vibes for the both of us! x x x:bluedust:

I will test again tomorrow and if Im still get 2 lines I will definitely go and buy some other tests. The internet cheapies i have test 10mlu, at what level do the digital ones test? Im just afraid that I'll buy the digital and it will say not pregnant.

By the way congratulations on your BFP, I bet you were excited when you got it. I wish you a H & H 9 months ahead

OK - on one hand I have got a false pos on Pregnow and I'm pretty sure others on this site have too.

One the other - you have done so many tests.....

Thanks Lulu2. I think that's why im doubtful that the tests are pos coz so many ppl have gotten false negatives. I just looked at some I did earlier today and I cant really see the 2nd line now, is it possible that it could fade? I could definitely see the 2nd line earlier. My tests from later this arv are still showing 2 lines

My false pos stayed that way too, but there is strength in numbers!!!!!

Hmm, I would give it a day or two and then get a Confirm, First Response, Crystal Clear or Discover Onestep. These all measure 25 miu (the Clearblue Digital measure 50 so you don't want to use them till after AF is due). By 11 or 12 dpo you should get a reasonably reliable result with these brands.

Thanks Sally, that's what I might do. I just dont want to get my hopes up but I cant help it. All have shown the 2nd line but so many thoughts are going through my head, like what if it's a faulty batch of tests that I have.

I did some more pregnow tests this morning and once again I had faint positives but they were lighter than the ones i did yesterday afternoon (my urine was more concentrated yesterday arv though). I also did I First Response test with my FMU today and it was negative. So Im guessing my pregnow tests are just evaporation lines?? Im only 10 dpo so is it possible that I may still not have enough HCG in my system for First Response to detect yet? I've used Pregnow heaps of times before and have never gotten evap lines

Hi, are you reading the results within the time frame? Even if your not it would be strange to for every test to show an evap line. I bought a heap of cheapies from the UK and could'nt believe my eyes when the come up with 2 lines, I thought serves me right for buying internet cheapies, I even asked the company if they had any false positives. But guess what it was the real thing!!!!!! My line did'nt fade away though it just darkened slightly. They would have to be pretty good, otherwise their feedback score would be bad, I reckon it is just a waiting game and another day or two will give you a definate result. Heaps of luck for your next testing, but I reckon it is a BFP.

Yes Im reading the tests in the time frame. My tests from yesterday arv are still really dark and I can see them from an arms length away. I guess Im questioning the tests coz this mornings 2nd line is lighter than y'day arv (y'day mornings was lighter too). But I do know that some people have better luck testing in the afternoon. Plus with my First Response being negative it's also giving me doubts that the pregnow are BFP's. I suppose it's waiting game like you said, and I am only 10 dpo so it's still kind of early. But I do think it's strange that all the pregnow's are showing a 2nd line.

mmmm it is quite strange isn't it. Like the other ladies here, i would suggest waiting (i know it sux!) another few days and using a diff brand. like u said, it may be too early to detect with other brands but the main thing is to stay positive and not to give up! Good Luck x x x

I had pregnow - I was 14 dpo and used afternoon wee and got a very, very, very faint positive - but for some reason I was sure I was preg anyway.

However, because of all the stuff I have read on here with false positives, I went to the pharmacy and bought crystal clear - used 6pm wee and positive straight away ....

AND I waited 2 days and poas pregnow again, still only very very faint positive - then used the other crystal clear int he box (hey why not use them LOL) and instant positive.

Blood tests all confirmed pregnancy.

BUT I used a pregnow one purely for experimental purposes again when 4wks 4 days, and line was much darker but still not as dark as control line.

So, even though they are more sensitive, I am thinking because they are cheap maybe they don't use as much dye in them or something so the result may not be as convincing..

So, if you haven't got another test brand since the first response (I have heard some stories about them too - likely there are stories about all the brands though) - go and buy a crytal clear - have worked for me for all my pregs without fail.

Another thought, different tests from the same batch bring up different coloured lines. One of my tests had a mark in the contol line and the test line. Some were lighter than others, which I was worried about because I had had 2 MC's that I got second lines with then faded away but that happened very quickly. I think you are why not go to the doc and get a test done and also a BT then start enjoying you BFP and not worrying as much/or more if you are anything like me?????lol. Good luck.

Hi SamiH, thanks for your info on pregnow. I've become a pregnow addict since I've been getting these very faint positives. I did 2 pregnow tests at lunch time today with very concentrated urine and they both had a 2nd line (I read the test results at 5mins and the instructions say to read anywhere between 5 - 10 mins), the 2nd line is still there on both. But just then I did another test and it was neg but my urine was very diluted. I only have First Response as my other tests so I might go and buy some different brands and test with FMU on Friday morning, surely if I'm preg something should be showing by then.

Blackduckies, I'm such a worrier, it's all I can think about since I've been getting these positive tests. I also have had 2 miscarriages and would love nothing more than to have a healthy and happy baby.

I'd recommend you head off to the doc for a blood test. You will find that most doctors are happy to help with an early blood test when you have suffered other losses. That way you will get a proper answer rather than trying to interpret lines. With my pregnancies I had them done at a bulk billing clinic and it cost nothing - far cheaper than all the money I was spending on pregnancy tests that just gave me more questions.

If it turns out you aren't pregnant I can highly recommend the Lullaby conceptions ones. I never got false positives on them.

I found that when I got very pale positives that didn't get darker I would have an early miscarriage - the first blood test would say pregnant but with lowish HCG then the next would show a drop, whereas with this pregnancy I got a pale positive at 10DPO and a darker one at 11DPO then I went straight off to the doc for confirmation to put my mind at ease after my losses and got such a high HCG level that he suggested it could be twins!!! Turns out it's just one little boy in there though.

I did a Confirm preg test this morning with FMU and got a faint 2nd line but it's definitely there. I just hope they continue to darken. Im 11 DPO so fingers x'd everything will work out fine. I think I will go the dr in a day or two.

Ooh the lines are still there!!!!

I'm thinking about uncrossing a few things though, I don't think you will need it - Hooray!

Thanks everyone. Im actually starting to believe it might be a BFP too. But coz I have had miscarriages in the past (both at 12 wks), I've got a long way to go before I can get really excited. I just hope that if I am preg that this one sticks!!! I cant help but be excited though

I had two easy completely normal pregs and think I took them for granted - then had 2 m/c which of course shocked me and realise I wasn't 21 anymore - and now this pregnancy is so precious and each day I have to pinch myself that I am pregnant again and what a blessing it is.

Sounds like a BFp to me - but please do confirm with us when you find out - I love hearing all the good news stories.

With DD I took hers for granted, then DH and I have been ttc for 22 months with 2 miscarriages. I was beginning to think that I would never fall pregnant and that I should've enjoyed my pregnancy with her more.

Well you have been very patient, and it is your time then. It is really worth waiting for, no matter how frustrating it can seem at times.

I like to think that because my 2 m/c angels weren't planned, that is why they had to go, but this one definitely is and he is gunna stick stick stick. (For some reason I think I am having a boy??)

My fingers are x'd that your little bean sticks for you Sami. Im becoming obsessed with pregnancy tests. Of course I just needed to go to the toilet so I poas again. 2 tests. 1 was an Assurance Plus and it was neg and the other was another Confirm, it had a faint positive again. All these mixed results are doing my head in. Surely with all the Pregnow really faint positives and the 2 really faint positives on the Confirm must mean Im preg. Im reading the results in the correct time frame. Surely they all cant be evaporation lines.

Ok, now Im really confused!!! I just went to the toilet and I had some brown spotting. So I guess this maybe means AF is on her way??? If so why the positive pregnancy tests? I knew it was too good to be true. I never thought getting pregnant would be so hard and frustrating.

Implantation bleeding??

I'm not sure what it looks like though - maybe do a search, I'ts been discussed here before somewhere.

Does hcg show in your system before implantation bleeding? Im trying to remain positive.

I personally have never had implantation bleeding, but loads of other ladies have. You are 11dpo from memory - so entirely possible that is what it is.

Do you normally spot before AF - I don't do that either but again some people do ...

maybe I am the weird one LOL

I think with all the tests and different brands, either get a Blood test, or try and wait until 13dpo and test again.

But I still think it sounds like you are UTD - fingers crossed for you and good luck

No I never spot b4 AF arrives, the only reason I dont think it is an implantation bleed is because I didnt think a pregnancy test would pick up hcg before a implantation, I could be wrong though. I've made myself promise not to test until 13 DPO (which will be Saturday). It's going to kill me not to test tomorrow and hopefully I wont break my promise. I'll be trying to keep myself busy. With a bit of luck the spotting will spot. If Im still getting the positive tests over the weekend then I'll make a dr appointment for Monday. Im praying Ive got a healthy, little sticky bean inside of me!!! But I always have the worst luck and so many people tell me so, thats why I reckon AF will rear her ugly head.

Leigh if you have always had the worst luck it is time for it to change!!!!

I dunno about bleed, sometimes it absorbs in uterus - so may be yours just took a couple of days to come out - hence brown spotting (old blood) and by then eggie has burrowed in and already started to produce hcg.

I will definitely pop in tomorrow and see how you go.

Well when I woke up I managed not to do any tests but the spotting is still here. So I still think AF is definitely on her way. With all the positive tests Ive done and on different brands Im thinking it may have been a chemical pregnancy??? If AF does arrive Im trying to remain positive and be happy that at least I actually fell pregnant - I was starting to think I'd never fall pregnant again. Hopefully I will have happier news next month. I'll do another preg test with FMU tomorrow morning and see how I go just in case (that's if I can hold off testing today).

Well my spotting has turned into bleeding so it looks like im back to the drawing board. Fingers crossed I have some better luck next month and get my BFP and a bub that will stick!!!

Leigh - i went thru this on my 2nd cycle ttc... (after my early m.c in nov) i then had pregnow tests and they showed BFP's on 3 of them!! Turns out they were false BFPs it was very upsetting... I WOULD NEVER use that brand ever ever again......
stick to reputable brands... the lullaby conception hpt's are pretty good. you can buy them from their website lots of girls on here use them. (sensitive ones that measure 10miu) or 20miu also...
