I have seen breastmilk storage bags around ages ago. But of course now that I want/need some I can't find them anywhere.
Does anyone know where I can get these bags from. I need to build up my supply of EBM for some births I have coming up.

I know we stock them (LOL), ive seen them on eBay as well.
They aren't easy to get Trish that's for sure.
I have some Avent ones which need clips, but they don't make the bags anymore & it's near impossible to get them now. If you go to the Avent website though, send them an email to see if you can get some old stock. I'm not sure if they have many bags left because I was just getting the bottles that hold the bags at the time.
The ones I found on the net are called Gerber Seal N Go, they have a zip lock which are sooo much better. I hunted high & low for any type of bags then eventually found the Gerber ones on ebay & Amazon though the postage for Amazon was ridiculous.
ETA: Kim I wish I knew that before, would have saved heaps of hassle! When I run out I'll be getting them from you for sure.
Toys R Us used to stock them Trish, otherwise I just used snaplock bags.
Damn Sarah...you should ahve asked me....we always getting in stuff people cant find...especially BF stuff!

Kim, I have had a look at your site. I have also found the bags. The only thing it doesn't say is how many you get for your $$
Thanks for that too Sarah. I found that Au ebay has precious little but American Ebay has stacks. But then you have to pay ridiculous postage rates.
I think Avent has replaced teh bags with those cups. Which are ok, but do take up some space and Abbey won't drink from the avent bottles so I'd still have to be swapping it all around again.
Yeah they have Trish, but when I emailed them they said there was some old stock in the Sydney warehouse that I got cheap.
IN the box you get 20 bags...i keep forgetting to add that to the listing!

I bought mine from a chemist, they are sticky sealing ones. I paid about $8ish for 10 I think mothers direct have some too.
Have they really become rare in only 2 years since I last used them??? - I am genuinely surprised. I would just duck to my local chemist or Priceline and could buy some there.

Yep, I had the Avent bags for my son 3 years ago, but now they have changed their disposable system & you can't get them anymore.
The disposable system's pretty good though. I don't use the attachments, just the cups and they can go in the dishawasher and steriliser....I've used them for over 2 years.
My local discount chemist has the swispers brand ones. Often you really have to hunt for them.
we had a place here in melbourne selling that madela ones for around $5 for 20!!! was such a bargin, i checked tge other day and they didnt have any, just the lanolin!!
i used to get sterile urine specimin jars and freeze my EBM in them. They hold about 120mls. Otherwise i froze my milk in snaplock jars.
I used to express and when my twins were first born i was expressing heaps more than they needed. I ended up with a whole chest freezer ( you know one of those upright ones with the lid on the top) totally full. That is when the snaplock bags were better as they were more compact to store.
BTW EMB milk last longers in a chest freezer than a freezer that is attached to your fridge. (12 months in a deep freeze, 3 months in a fridge/freezer) so if you can store it in the deep freeze its better.

I found some at the biggest of our local pharmacies... we have about 5 in town all owned by the same people except for one, they were bound to be there somewhere!
I also recently found a reusable freezing tray thingo at Toys R Us - it freezes EBM into 30 ml sticks which you then pop out and put into a snap lock back so you can refill the tray. There were 2 of the trays in the pack and I think it was about $20... naturally after I bought it I had to finish the bags I still had and now I rarely express (can't be stuffed and DS won't take it anyway) so they haven't actually been used! Murphy's Law or what?!
I got Medela bags from our chemist. They fit onto my pump and ziplock up- love them.
I have seen them at 3 different Amcal chemists, they have their own brand. 20 bags for $9.95.

When i had DD i was given a whole bunch of leftover bags - and didnt even use them all up (they were an american brand, playtex or something??) and I would fill one everyday, so the prices you are quoting for a pack of 10 are just amazing to me!!
I think i'll express into a bottle and just stick in a freezer bag. Cant be anything wrong with that can there?
i didnt think you were meant to put milk into ziplock bags due to the plastic leaking chemicals into the milk, perhaps check with barb
Yep I thought the same AJP, unless you use the specific zip lock mades made for BM.
I dont mean zip lock bags - I was thinking plain old freezer bags...........

I think one of the reasons they are so expensive is that they are better quality plastic, and they are sterile. wellm, the ones I use are, they are abot $10 for a 10 pack I think from the chemist...I used the Kanesori ones and they are ace. they have a seal on them, they are easy to use, adn as I said they are sterile.
I actually have a full packet here if you want them....PM and I will post them over , cos I dont use them anymore and noone I know BFs...

My problem with bottles is the storage space they'd need. I have well over a litre of EBM in the freezer & the amount of bottles I'd need would take up too much space. I agree though it's nuts that you have to send so much for something that really is a necessity.
I feel a convincing argument coming on for a new nice big fridage, what do you think girls??!! :D:

Sarah, must have the "luxury" tax on them, the same as toilet paper and tampons !
A friend had told me she pours her milk into the ice cue tray, lets it settle (freeze) a little, then covers it with cling wrap. When completely frozen she pops them out into zip lock bags, dates them and puts them in the deep freezer. Not too bad an idea. But yes, still the issue of the BPA'S.
While on the subject of storing breastmilk, has anyone used/ or is using the "babycubes" for breastmilk? I was thinking of getting some?

cheapest way to store b/milk is see if you can get some urine sample jars!!!! When my kids were is special care- that is what we had to store our milk in- i had heaps. They hold about 110mls and are easy to store in the freezer!!!
They are also sterile!!!
just a matter of finding someone to get them for you!

I used to just express into bottles.. That way it was all ready to go when needed.. no need to transfer to a bottle.. I just put the teat in and warmed it up
I bought the babycubes, only used a couple for storing breastmilk. I think the ones I got were 70ml each, and they are individual, so have their own lids. I defrosted one, just ran a little water over the outside and the cube popped out easily enough. Put it in a bottle and sat it in the bottle warmer, took a little while to defrost, but wasn't that bad.:
Planning on using them for solids now :)
