I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2009.......
Good morning!! I'm am off for my first walk!
Oh!!! I hope I made it in I emailed my stats last night, before the cut off???
Well I woke up this morning and it would have been so easy to just fall into my old habits, I actually had to stop and think:doh:about not going to the cupboard etc.
Instead I had a cup of tea, skim milk no sugar. I heard a tip re: water consumption if you have a glass when you wake up, then before and after meals it's quite easy to make your intake for the day, so off to have my glass of water!!!:D
Look sssssooooo real and offical now does'nt it? with the heading and everything!!!
I told Shel of my goals! :o So now I HAVE to do them LOL, its too embarassing to say "ummm, no i didn't go for a walk... no reason, i'm just LAZY"
Oh, and I'm drinking my second glass of water as we speak, no loading up on coffee all day (milk + 2 sugars LOL).
Well, I (and I may be the only one) got a little too drunk last night so avoiding greasies today could prove difficult.
I am really proud of myself as I started this from Monday when I first committed myself to it instead of saying "oh after NY", so I have had a few days lead up into it as well.
Is anyone else kickstarting their change in diet with a two week fibre challenge (benefibre, fibresure, all bran)? I'm feeling good after the first three days, cant wait to see how i am feeling after two weeks.
Whoever was asking about weight to lose in the run-up thread, I need to lose at least 30kg (what I would be 'happy with'). 35kg for BMI of 25 & I think it was 41kg for ideal BMI at 22. I mostly think BMI is a crock but I will use it as a guide for my weight loss.
Anyway I have an excited monkey waking up my three hungover guests so i better go entertain him....
I'm also using the 12-week healthy habits activity and food thing on measureup.gov.au
I thinkit'll be good for me as I don't want to focus toooooo much on numbers, especially calories, but more on getting active and eating regulatly and healthy is the biggest thing so it's great for me.
Cookiemonster, I had a few last night too - didn't get drunk, but had a vomiting toddler at 11:30- poor love and I didn't fall into bed til 2:30 and up at 6:30 so I think I will have trouble being good today too especially with leftover snacks in the house. Maybe I should eat them ALL at once and get rid of them  Did I mention I have very low self-control. Looking at photos of last night in my costume will help my motivation - I am going to stick them up on fridge and in the cupboard - will help me stay motivated for sure. I was Pebbles and I look like I ate a leopard :(
Leash - thanks for that site ,there are some great things on there hun.
Well, Happy NY to all....i have been for a half an hour walk this morning with DD in pram! Its quite hot today so would try to do longer when its not so hot!
Got a big bottle of water in the fridge so will drink all that today! and Tanstar...i ate all the leftovers from xmas yesterday so my cupboards are looking very healthy! (empty) lol
My aims are to do more excercise, get fitter and healthier...to put my DH to shame, he always seems to be able to drop any extra killos in a week!! no fair!
This time two years ago i bought a load of beautiful clothes...none of which i can fit into anymore!! just want to get back into them.....not to much to ask!!
Goos luck to all!!
Still have visitors, so feeling rather restricted in activities and eating. I know the moment I get the Wii out they will jump on it and want to play :wall:
Feeling good today and ready for the challenge! Got to try to get out soon to do some exercise because it's going to be a hot one today.
Yesterday was great. For a family outing we went to the pools and I was able to swim some laps. And then I walked straight past the kiosk without buying any chips!
I'm another one who doesn't like fruit, does anyone have some good ideas for snacks?
Just want to wish all you gorgeous girlies all the willpower in the world! I would have loved to have joined but being pg I guess it really isn't possible! So I'll read and try and get fit ;)
Happy New Year everyone! I've had 4 hours sleep last night as we were at the in-laws for NYE dinner, which was very yummy (and my last chance to go nuts on the appetizers!), and DS was up at 6:30 although I was up at 5:30 as my nose was all blocked up so jumped in a hot, steamy shower to try and clear it...ended up scrubbing the shower!!! So there's my first workout today.
Cookiemonster....I eat All-Bran for breakfast mostly every day, either that or weetbix made with hot water and a splash of milk. I can't stomach the sugary cereals which surprises me considering I have a sweet tooth. I think my breakfast is the most healthiest meal I eat! It's just the snacking on crap that is my downfall.
Beckoes - I have this gorgeous skirt I bought in Singapore almost two years ago and I don't fit into anymore :( so another of my goals is to fit into my favourite skirt :)
I am hungover to the gills.
AS a result I have been skulling water all morning.
Blerk.
But DH and I are taking the kids for a bush walk in an hour or so, so I will work a sweat up to get rid of the toxins!
Hi girls,
Happy New Year!!
Well, I have been pretty good the past couple of days. Gone for a walk both days and eating ok. Not great but ok, no junky stuff, but probably still too much of the healthy stuff, LOL! Walking has been a challenge though with the heat we've had the past few days, and I carry DSin the ergo too. I went on a walk the other day that used to take me 40 mins, and it took me almost an hour! I am sooo unfit. It's amazing to see how far I have let myself slide health and fitness wise.
I had a bad day with the kids yesterday adn was soo tempted to call DH to get a tub of ice cream for me, but I didn't, and I fought the cravings to eat anything after dinner, so I was pretty proud for that! I'm such a bad emotional eater, especially if things upset me, or I'm feeling lonely and depressed. Which lately seems all too often...
I have been having lots more fruit and veggies and water, so that's a great start. Now to work on portions....I used to eat so little, now well, lets just say I like a full plate!!
My goal for now is to lose 3-5kg by Feb. I have a wedding then and would like to be close to under 80kg. I think I might have already lost almost a kg, so I'm on my way, yay!! Then after that I'd like to lose another 6-8kg by mid April when we have another wedding to go to. That should bring me down to about 75ish kg. I think that's all pretty doable if I stay on track.
By the end of it all I want to fit into my jeans I have from yeeeaaaars ago. I think I wore them the day I met DH! I have heaps of clothes I've been hording that I really want to wear again.
Captain, I like the idea of doing active family outings. Our outings often include food, like going out for lunch, or getting fish n chips at the beach. I'm going to skip the fish n chips and just do the beach thing now!! Adn take a ball to kick around with DD for good measure :) And it makes things more fun!
happy new year everyone!
Well it's day one of the challenge and I'm feeling great. The house is well and truely free of chocolate - courtesy of me polishing it all off last night of course
What is everyone doing diet wise? I'm counting calories and sticking to a low fat diet. I'm allowing myself up to 1500 calories per day.
My diet is three healthy meals a day, not counting calories (as I tend to get a bit obsessive) so just trying 3 healthy meals, 2L of water, limit my coffee/coke.
Happy New Year everyone! May 2009 be a great healthy year for all of us!
In total I have walked 2 hours this week and have done 500 sit ups! I weigh in on Saturday morning!
With regards to water, I have about 2 glasses when waking and then the other 6 by about 2pm. So after 2pm, any water I have is a bonus (with dinner etc). I also am a strong believer of having a glass of water when I feel peckish and it fills me up so the craving only lasts for a minute!
I have saved a total of 24 points so far to use on Friday night (if I wish) so I am really enjoying Weight Watchers Online!
Any people wishing to do it online, it is ace! It is $89.95 for 3 months and keeps you very, very motivated!! I just record things I eat through the day on the laptop which sits on the kitchen bench (I hated the old style of writing is all down).
Good luck everyone with your weight loss!
Had a few celebratory wines last night so am loving my water this morning!! But threw in a coffee also... and 4 pieces of toast with peanut butter... oops... I must admit I woke up and had forgotten about the challenge  I am going to be better for the rest of the day!!
Happy 2009 everyone!
tk, I have a coffee every morning and it is only 0.5points on WW (allowed 20 points per day) and I have it white with one sugar so it's not too bad at all! Yum, wish I had peanut butter on toast this morning, would have been really yummy!!
Spice - jump on calorieking and calculate calorie intake for your weight and etc... it's much more accurate. I needed to consume 2000 calories a day while breastfeeding, not including if i was exercising. If anyone is calorie couting check it out because it is a really great way to know how much you should be consuming to lose weight
CookieMonster, I love CalorieKing! Though I had stopped entering the meals recently and just eating whatever but am now back into it.
Spice, I factor my coffee into CalorieKing but I usually enter it as black no sugar or I enter a black tea... today was naughty day!
Happy New Year everyone!
Not sure what I am going to do yet in terms of diet, think I might just go with making healthy choices. We had Maccas for the last time last night! I'm also going to try and walk at least 3 times a week as well as 2 group training sessions that I've been doing.
Wishing you all luck!
Good luck Kellie!!!
I have a fridge full of healthy food from my shop yesterday, now I have to remember to eat it - my biggest downfall is that I don't remember to eat, but I have made up a container of salad (2 types of lettuce leaves, spinach leaves, grape tomatoes, celery, cucumber, boiled egg and mushrooms) to grab some out for lunch & dinner, have also got some nice pieces of organic meat (beef & lamb). Had my first coffee for the morning - there is no way I'm going to drop the coffee but I will stop drinking it after 2pm.
Today's exercise is washing down the walls in preparation for painting tomorrow. I also have to give my bedroom a thorough clean & clear as my new bed arrives on Saturday morning & I'll have to get the old bed out of there before then. May even wash down the walls in there and repaint tomorrow. I have 2 days in which to get my place painted in anticipation of the arrival of a new bed and dining room table.
punkin, well done on the healthy food! protein is good to push you through, fills you up longer i reckon. i always make sure i include protein at lunch so i'm not hungry around 2 or 3pm and if i am, i have some fruit. ****...i get those afternoon sugar cravings!!!
thanks queenbee!
just checking out calorie king and measureup.gov.au - they are great sites!
I would be walking RIGHT NOW if Shel wasn't so bloody paranoid and wouldn't hide my keys just in case someone breaks in and tries to steal her car  ANNOYING!
Morning everyone!
Bit of a slow start here this morning. I was going to go for a walk but by the time I got organised (about 8:30) it was waaaaay too hot. Instead I cranked the AC and put on some Nine Inch Nails and had a good old fashioned dance off with my 2 and a half year old DD. With finger poised over the mute button for when the swears come on though!
I don't really have a set plan for what to eat or not, I just try and eat the food I know my body needs. I don't eat meat so have to be pretty careful about getting my protein in!
It sounds like everyone is off to a great start!
Oh no Leasha! That sucks! Is it as hot up there as it is down here? I can hardly move without sweating
Is it too late to send in my stats?????
Well I woke up with a headache (no grog, I think I'm just tired!) so went back to bed whilst my star of a Dad looked after the boys. Got up at 10:30 and had 2 weetbix, banana, coffee (white with 2, really need to stop that...)
It' now 1:05pm and I'm thinking about lunch... probably tuna sandwich with lots of salad. And water.
I went shopping yesterday and bought a heap of fruit, so there's lots of healthy snacks for me. Grapes, bananas, apples, etc.
Only issue for me is that I'm going away from tomorrow to Monday, and I won't be cooking on those days, so I have to exercise and then watch my snacks!
Sending everyone willpower vibes!
DH and I are doing this together. We have different diet problems but my diet goals arebroken into three week groups. For the first group (wk 1-3) my diet goals are to not eat junk food at work and to recognise when I am hungry and when I am full. Junk food at work is a killer for me as I have an office to myself and work on the computer all day. I can eat a whole packet of tim tams and not even remember which is scary. If I eat junk food I at least want to enjoy it! Maybe I would then realise it isn't that yummy after all. :)
Good luck everyone for the journey. I am sure we will have our ups and downs but if we can encourage each other to get back on the wagon we will sail through.
We got off to a great start today- DH suggested we all go walking to the park and have a play, which was cool as I have been going early in the morning (about 6ish) with one or both kids in the pram. This morning I slept in a bit, so it was nice to go out all together, and for DH to be the one doing the motivating (so far this week I have done 5x 45 min walks)
Diet wise I am following an eating plan from my dietician, which is 3 meals, 3 snacks- also following as much of a low GI diet as possible to help with staying fuller longer. My biggest thing is watching portion sizes as I tend to get carried away.
I have actualley been on my health kick since before christmas- when I saw a friend who had lost 15kgs and felt very jealous, so I decided right then in that moment to get on with it, not to wait till after chrissy/ new year- which for me is a big thing, I am always putting it off to later.
I have also started a diary in which I record daily excercise, food intake, water intake any thoughts/ feeling and just writing down general inspirational sayings and stuff. I like having it on paper so I can pick it up whenever I want to, instead of having to wait to get to the computer, and sometimes 'forgetting' what I have eaten.
Wishing everyone the BEST of luck, I am loving all the determination and motivation in here at the moment.
I am just going with healthy meals and snacks at the moment if that works ok, I will stick with it, if I have trouble then calorie counting it is. I have done my exercise today, 1 hour of wood splitting, keep my family warm this coming winter and good for my core strength and did'nt cost a cent. Still cool here in Vic ;) Day one feeling good and confident as you would hope.
I only just got my stats in today, I used all my download and had to wait until today to get it all in.
The changes I'm making -
*Drink a mug of warm/hot water with lemon first thing in the morning. Highly recommend this one, its an excellent morning kick-start for your liver and cleanses your palate.
* cutting back from 2 sugars to 1 in my tea
*more water every day - will fill a water bottle each morning and work through it daily
* good snacks on hand, my fave is a handful of almonds and dried apricots in the arvo
* multigrain bread instead of white
*eat breakfast in the morning
*eat dinner with the family instead of running out the back with a cup of tea for a quiet moment whilst they eat
*chop up all vegies into straws the day I buy them. The kids are more likely to tuck in if its easy to grab a handful and it makes cooking up a quick stir fry easier at the end of the day.
*no more pigging out on chocolate at night when I get hungry after missing dinner!
WEAPONS at the ready for improving fitness -
Cans of soup for weights!
3 kg weights (not ready for them yet!)
Stepper machine
I have to try and find an excerise routine for at home - crunches, squats etc. I'd love a Wii, but will have to wait for that one!
i have been so so norty today but after reading this thread already i am set to get into to it now good luck every one
Well I've found it hard to get motivated today after a celebratory night last night - had to make the most of it after not being UTD anymore and it being the day before the challenge! I've had plenty of water, vitamins and some ham. I better get some salad into me I say. Still haven't built up much of an appetite yet. Will have a boxing session on the wii later on. Today is rest day before night shift tonight. Anyway, I'm biting the bullet and posting the most terrible before shot I can find in the challenge gallery, I hope I see more of you do it too as I think it will be more incentive :)
Happy new year everyone :)
I got my stat's in yesterday afternoon... so so ashamed of myself for letting my weight get so bad  :wall:
I know its a bad start for me but we had a bbq breaky this morning, so i plan to get stuck into it all tomorrow... First and last slip up i swear ;)
someone said they have a glass of water when peckish....i clean my teeth! sounds wierd i guess but it works!
Im not very good with 3 meals a day, i still snack in between and go way over the amount i should eat, so im having 6 small meals a day. eg:
6am: small bowl cereal
9am: toast w/fruit or fruit salad and yog
12pm: scrambled egg w/sliced tomato
2pm: one slice mountain bread w/salad/ham/cheese/tuna...whatevers in the fridge
4pm: Avo on crackers/corn thins
7pm: Dinner...normally fish/meat w/ salad,veggies or small pasta
Pudding: Chocolate paddle pop!! need my choc hit of the day and its better than most other treats!
Unfortunatly i still eat like this when not being healthy but each one is something like croissent, cheese on toast, sausage roll, cake, choc, creamy pasta, chips!! oops!!
Put DD in her pool floaty chair and did some laps, we both had fun!! and kept cool!!
