How many baths..
Does your toddler have a day? After another IRRATIONAL conversation with my mother (that's a totally different thread but i wouldn't know where to start) Apparently im in the wrong for giving dd a bath in the morning and a bath at night. Not everyday, mind you. Only some days. I only do it because a) it's cold, so i give her a warm bath after she's had breaky and b) because she's usually got a really full nappy in the morning, considering it's been on half the night. And then she has her bath at night because well, she's been running around and playing in god knows what all day lol... So.. Just curious how many baths/showers does your toddler have a day? And by giving them more than one bath are you damaging the natural oils in their skin, like I have been lectured on.

We used to do a bath at night but most of the time they had to have 2 baths a day. They just got so grubby! I also used to chuck them in the bath if they were grumpy, it used to soothe them.

J has a bath nearly every night. She has very dry skin & it gets worse when she has a bath every day so there is no way she could have two in a day on an ongoing basis. That said, as she starts walking more & when the weather warms up she will have a bath every day, like her brother does. If she gets dirty & I don't want to bath her that night she gets a wash down with a washer.

We bath Ds very night as part of his night time routine! Gives him a chance to wind down a bit! Well after all the splashing lol! We use Gaia products and havent had any skin problems?
But all babies are different! Just do what is right for you

DD has a shower in the morning with Daddy and a bath in the evening. She loves having a shower with the Bear even if she doesn't necessarily 'need' it (although after breakfast she can usually use a hose-down) and if I try to skip the bath at night I get grabbed by the hand and led down the corridor to the bathroom! Sometimes I think twice a day is a bit of overkill but I don't use much soap, so she is just getting wet. If you don't use much soap then I don't see how you are going to damage the natural oils in her skin :wtf:

We are once a day here usually, unless DS decides he wants to jump in daddy's shower as well.
if you're concerned about drying out her skin.. just make one bath plain water. Bubble baths and/or cleansing washes will strip the skin. If you have a good natural wash, or a good natural moisturiser you can lather on afterwards it wouldn't be too bad.
You'd soon know yourself if it's affecting her skin tho.

we have always well from about 4 mths on been twice a day minimum iun summer a few times jack would hav 2 showers and 2 baths  in summer I can have up to 3-4 showers a day
-
Just once a day here (at night) unless they have gastro and its easier to splash it off than wipe ;)
-
I bath DD once a day at night unless she gets really grubby

DS has a shower every night with DH, or if he's away a bath. If when we get home from playgroup (twice a wk) he is dirty he'll ge one during the day.
Currently in the mornings if he know's I'm in the shower & there's nothing grabbing his attention on tv he'll jump in with me as he will just sit at the door & cry otherwise. So one to two a day & it doesn't bother me at all.
Whatever works for you!!!

Actually I have also recently started giving my 2yo two baths a day too.... one in the (mid) morning and one at night. I have found that with the colder weather and it being a bit muddy outside he needs it. So after he has brekkie we go outside and while I hang the clothes on the line he has a play in some old clothes... they have been getting muddy of late... so I then bring him in (which is when he has been doing his poos) so with all that I have figured a nice warm bath is the way to go. I don't use soap though... MooGoo products here... they are very gentle. Maybe just tell your mum you aren't using soap if she is worried about stripping natural oils. If I don't have any MooGoo on hand I often just pop in a few drops of lavendar oil (it is a natural disinfectant).

Only the one here. Don't really have a hot water tank big enough to do any more, lol. Its always near dusk where he can't go out and get dirty again, and its not yet gotten very cold.
-
DD has a bath or shower every second day. I do not find she gets that dirty as she is not mobile yet. She gets her nappy area washed 4 times a day with a nice warm washer.
-
mostly my kids have 1 bath a day, but they have been known to have 2. water alone does actually strip the skin of it's natural oils, so if my kids have more than 1 bath, i'll put milk powder, or a creamy no-soap wash in the water.

When they were younger... one, two, whatever they needed that day and worked for us...
I think this is one of those things where you just have to go 'this is what WE do' and leave it at that, no sense getting worked up over it, it's your choice kwim?
I think you would know if it was damaging her skin! Of course some are more sensitive & delicate than others. In winter you might find it more prone to drying out, then you could skip the soap & use a moisturising wash or oil. But really, I think you would know...and I totally get your reasoning for two a day, especially after a full nappy at night.
Do what works for you! :D

Charlotte has one 'proper' bath - where I wash her bits etc. and can have anywhere up to 5 other baths through out the day - she loves baths lol
I only ever put *soap* in one of her baths, and even then it isnt soap as such, because it can strip their skin of its natural moisture. I usually find that rinsing is enough to clean her nails and her face etc, only ever wash her once a day though, unless we have a gross nappy change! lol

Once a day in the evening, unless we have had either a particularly grubby play and are going somewhere or we have had a messy poo which atm cause we are TT can happen a bit.

DD gets one a day. If her skin is overly dry, I put QV bath oil in it. Sometimes she jumps in the shower with me in the morning - but very rarely. Of course, if she has a particularly distrubing nappy or overly energetic breakfast, she'll get thrown in the shower for a quick wash down...
