Amongst my birthday surprises came a knock at the door and a delivery of a POOL TABLE... and amongst the accessories was a beautiful pink pool cue in it's own sweet little case of my very own!!! It is such a delightful object! I lived in a pub for 2 years when I was a uni student and played pool everyday after lectures. It was always a battle to get a decent cue. I have never used a brand new one in perfect condition as beautiful as this one. Watch this space for photos!!!

oooh! how lucky!! I just wanted to add my envy...;) we have a pool table in the shed, but due to dps father cramming all his junk in there, one cant even see it atm let alone use it!

For Mother's Day, my Dh suprised me with a Personal Style Counsel session. He'd seen me watching Trinny and Susannah - (and I always say 'Gee I wish someone would do that to me!) It was a great experience ,and I thank him every day when I get dressed. :)

A tomato knife. It was one of these party plan things and came free when I spent over a certain amount (on a muffin tray and a trifle dish - expensive party plan!).

Along the lines of a tomato knife, a hand held cheese slicer. Just a stick with 2 bits of wire. Would never had thought of it and had not even seen one. Almost wrote it off as yet another cheap gift from my mum, but boy am I happy we gave it go. Reminds me, I need to buy another as I have somehow lost out last one.

a V-Slicer, we were given one as a wedding present. Left it at MIL house when we went on honeymoon still in the box & she tried it out...loved it sooooo much kept it & got us a new one & after first use we can see why. I always saw the ads & just thought "whatever" but it is GREAT!!!

tomato knife = knife for slicing tomatoes. It has a specially serated edge so it doesn't make the tomato go all splurky when you cut it: you can cut really fine slices with it. Love it!

Tomato Knives: Ahhh sounds like a smaller version of my bread knife that I also have discovered cuts tomatoes beautifully. Approx how long is it? Maybe a steak knife would also do the trick?

My pool cue is a gorgeous shade of pink Astrid... pale pink, pearly, with a white bit of curved stripe around the handle area. Looks a bit phallic LOL but otherwise a beautiful object. Says 19oz... and I'm curious as to whether that makes it a heavy, medium or light cue. It felt good when I used it yesterday though. Might have to start a thread about Pool!

Cataloging software for my books & DVDs that my awesome friend gave me for my birthday last year. I don't know how I lived with out it, even though not everything is entered just yet.

Ooooh THAT sounds good Sarah! How does it make entry data faster??? I don't think I could find the time to type in every book and DVD title and author/artist. Does it use scanning technology??? ie can read the barcode? I always thought that would be a good idea.

Yep I have a barcode scanner or you can type in the ISBN on the books or barcode on the DVDs. It then searches & adds in all the info - director, actors, genre etc for movies & illustrators, page numbers etc for books. I love it so much, it is very very cool. I can PM details if you want?

Oh, DH just took delivery of his early fathers day present (only early because he had to go get it, lol) which is a pool table!

Last thing I got that I didn't know I needed/wanted was warm fluffy boots. I should have known because my feet froze every night but - I am sure most of you mums remember that if our feet are cold, it only reminds us that the kids need slippers, lmfao. Never think of ourselves. Doh.

Ooh I'm sure you all will gets lots of fun from your new pool table... our skills have already shown a distinct improvement... and our 14yo DD enjoys playing with us too and has been tempted away from her bedroom/ensuite mirror so it must be fun!

Yeah, I've actually managed to beat my DH twice now, lol. Getting better. Before we got it I hadn't played in 9 years when my dad watched my two kids so I could go somewhere on my 21st, lol. Its hard keeping the bubba asleep long enough to play a whole game though! :(

We are teaching the older two how to play because the younger ones cant really reach yet - but Phil is getting a 3 in 1 table with Air Hockey, Table Tennis and Foosball for them.

That sounds ace!!! Air hockey is great fun! I suspect this pool table will also become a bit of an attraction with DD's friends... which is fine with me... much better them have fun here than trying to find it by roaming the streets.
