Beats me what I'm getting mine! Share your ideas so I can steal them! :D
im getting my mum a recipe book stand on ebay they have some beautiful ones on there atm and thats what she has wanted for awhile and making my grandparents and dd's dad and his family- buying some little canvas's and painting them up and doind dd's handprint in them (stole that idea off another bb member lol)
I did a photobook of pics of DD for the PIL's birthday and MIL loved it. It was inexpensive and fun to do so I think I will do one for my mum for Xmas. Did it through Big W online.
I need ideas too for my mum so will keep eye on this thread!
MIL will just get a pic of DS that we had done with ChrissyT on sat!! (feel free to go and check out her blog to see the pics)
I got the IL and my parents collaged photo mugs each from Jack and Luke, vistaprint, had fantastic specials ATM... ;) very cheap
I am making hamper for my mum with lots of delicious goodies... I thought about doing the same for MiL but I can't get past her not deserving my effort (making a hamper is a huge effort but feels like a bigger effort for me because I feel I have no idea what I am doing ) so she will likely get something bought.
We also did canvas prints of DDs 12 week old footprints and did up calendars from BigW so they are parts of their pressies
movie tickets
photo gifts
I have my eye on a nice Crabtree & Evelyn box set of hand moisturisers for after gardening for MIL and I have no idea what to get my Mum.
My sisters and I are all pitching in to get Mum a Nintendo DS pack for Xmas this year. Mum and MIL are getting a hand-decorated mug from DD and a photo of the three of us framed. I've also got a painting I'm finishing for my Mum (hopefully in time for Xmas... although I'm thinking of popping into the procrastinators thread on that one!).
I'm doing the same as TK1999 and making hampers with yummy christmas treats, i'm also doing this for the whole family.
My mum is always complaining that she can't remember all the birthdays now there are so many of us or the years so I made a birthday book for her of all the birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates she has to remember. I used momento (search for it on google) to make a diary and uploaded photos of everyone in our family. The software is free to download and depending on how into you get, it can be like electronic scrap booking. I have used them for a few photo books as well and they are fantastic. Order closing dates are early next week for guaranteed delivery before Christmas so you have to get in quick. If you order more than one copy, there are volume discounts (starting at 5% for 2). If you think it is too late for this year, sign up for next year because they send you emails in the weeks leading up to Christmas with 20% off and other things to try and encourage people to get in early.
I should mention they do calendars you can upload photos to for about $35. There is space for one photo every month, but if you play around with it, you can upload more than one photo each month once you are familiar with it all. If you don't live near your relative, they will deliver straight to them to save you on double postage. I am doing one of these for my Nanna and have made one for DH for work. I have entered important dates into Dh's so he can remember birthdays, anniversaries etc.
I got my mum an awesome pic of Max done on a canvass from Big W online. It was the easy option seeing as I'm overseas and wont' be seeing family this xmas. I'll be doing a photo book for MIL I think....and maybe a calendar too.
MIL is getting a calendar with pics of DD in it.
My mum wanted a bird scarer (one that has a black metal cat on a spring so it waves in the breeze) but I can't find one anywhere so i don't know what I will get her now.
A continuous photo album is a great idea, giving a page each Christmas & Mothers Day :)
My Mum wanted the Zumba DVD set.
And we are pooling in with my SIL's and getting MIL an iPod and dock.
Last year my sister and I (and our DHs) got my parents Opera Australia vouchers for combined birthday and Christmas. They liked it so much they bought each other opera subscriptions for their birthdays and Christmas this year, LOL! So we'll just go for movie tickets.
We tend to get them tickets to shows because they have enough 'stuff'.
We'll also give them a few photos of the girls and some sweets that I will bake.
Snapfish do some awesome photo gifts, Calendars with a photo for each month and more
