antagonist cycle, 1st IVF

Hi girls,
FS put me on the pill half way through the month for 2wks, and was my last day of the pill on 27th Dec.
I am waiting for a bleed, to start my FSH injections, how long does it take to have a bleed comming of the pill??
The only reason to have me on the pill was to bypass the christmas break. I am guessing 2-3 days but I am becomming impatient!:rolleyes:
I want to start this like YETERDAY!XXX

depends on the pill and your own body - mine was stubborn and i didn't get a bleed even a week after stopping the pill, so we did a BT and found that my hormones were flatlined anyway. give it another day or two and contact the clinic to see what they say if you haven't started bleeding... maybe call tomorrow so they can do BT if they want...

I guess everyone is different... for me it was about 2-3 days if i can remember correctly..... tho before my IVF cycle i was on the pill for almost a full month

I'm hoping to start the FSH by the 31st. Otherwise it is going to cost an extra $3000 for the cycle....Darn medicare, my body is definately being stubborn!
FS said if I haven't had any spotting but my prog levels are right down, I can start.

Hi MurrayCod, how are you going? Have you had any positive news from your FS? Are you still on the Pill? I also have been put on an antagonist cycle (my first IVF attempt). My FS told me this time last week that I had to go on the Pill and then 2 days later said I wouldn't have to. So I'm not sure how you're going with that. I really hope that you're able to start today. :pray:

I've been really struggling with this whole thing. I come from a big family and none of them have had any problems. I get depressed or cry when I see my nieces and nephews (especially the babies). I saw a pregnant elephant on the telly this morning and I cried. It's ridiculous!

I've only told 4 people plus my folks as I'm embarassed that I can't do what everbody else in my family has done multiple times. Plus I feel like it's none of anybody else's business. DH's sister is having a party tonight but I'm not going because I don't want to be caught with the drugs I have to take. Also not much in the mood.

I've been angry since we made the decision to do IVF. DH doesn't take it well even though he knows I'm not angry at him, just at the situation. It doesn't help when I have to speak to rude nurses who treat you like you're an idiot. I've spoken with two lovely nurses but sadly have had to deal with more with the rude ones. :shakehead:

Is anybody else out there angry and just hating what's happening to them or is it only me? At least the injections don't hurt and are simple to do after you faff about washing hands and swabbing bits! :)

Yeah I got great news today from FS, my progestrone levels are at base line, so I start FSH thisevening, 150iu of puregon, am soooo excited!
I have to admit, the nurses at Repromed in Adelaide are fantastic, and very caring.
I love it there.

I used to be very frustrated about not being able to fall PG easy. It is a tough road, and only the strong survive!
But one day, I just decided to take it on the chin, hold my head up and be proud of who I am as a person, and as a wife, because what matters most is that DH and I love eachother no matter what, and it makes us stronger as a team.
What we all go through with our partners, with the TTC stuff, is not classed as the 'norm', so many couples are lucky enough not to ever have to think of what we have to, but you know thats fine. Im sure they have other struggles that I don't have to think about.

Moonflower I'm so sorry that you are having such a crappy time with all of this.
Just want to let you know that I can be your IVF buddie anytime, and don't hesitate to chat whenever you need to.
We can get through this together, you don't have to be going through such a rough time on your own :hug:

(mind you I have no idea what I'm just about to get into myself, being a 1st timer too, but we can go mad together!!);)

That'd be grand and would work well as I'm on my first ever cycle too and only a few days ahead of you. I hope you were okay with the injection. I was prepared for a bit of pain and more afterward and it turned out to be quite the anti-climax. Which I was very pleased about!

Very glad your body co-operated Murray Cod! I missed the new years cut off by a couple of weeks and the extra $$ are definitely going to mean we can't afford as many cycles as we thought we could (trying to be positive and tell myself maybe we wont need many!)I'll be watching you guys moonflower and Murray cod as I'm on my very first cycle to, fingers crossed for all of us!

I am so glad your body cooperated! By some crazy fluke... I got my period a week and a bit early... also on the 31st... I was straight on the phone to Repromed - and the nurses were so fantastic... they had me come in within the haf hour and I was learning to jab myself!

I'm on 150iu Gonal-F... getting hubby to do my injections... he's nearly a pro now ;)

Tonights one hurt a bit, my tummy is getting slightly tender now, but there is no way I'm going to complain, im too excited!

The nurses there told me that there were several girls along with me just squeezing in on the 'Eleventh Hour'!!

Yep.. I am at Repromed Adelaide too...

My hubby also gets this cheeky grin when my 9pm alarm goes off for FSH injection... lol...

I am doing really well... I have had a CONSTANT headache since starting Gonal-F - but I dont know if it's due to the Gonal-F or whether it's because for some messed up reason I also decided to go cold turkey off caffeine that day :lol:

Just had my first crying session after my FSH tonight, no idea why! My tummy is getting a bit tender. I don't feel moody or hormonal, just cried for absolutely no reason!!
To be honest I'm not looking forward to having the Orgalutran tomorrow night, those needles look a bit scary :hide:

omg -- I had a TOTAL meltdown two days ago - absolutely RIDICULOUS! My poor, poor husband!

I am also completely freaked out by the Orgalutran needle... it's so much thicker! And bigger! Must be brave... must be brave...

Hello Ladies!

Just returned from a few days down the coast. So pretty down there. If only I could win a bazillion dollars and move there permanently! Sadly, back to work for me.

I'm seeing talk of the Orgalutran (or as I call 'em, the Orangutan) needles. There is nothing nice to say about them except that it will make you appreciate your FSH injections more. I can give you some advice. Make sure you inject slowly, like over a count of five seconds. My first I did quick and it hurt like hell and I got a very huge, very red reaction to it. :( I also have to hold my breath as that sucker (the needle, not me - although sometimes I wonder) is larger. My next two I did a lot better. It hurts and I get itchy from it but it's not as horrendous as say, getting a needle in your butt. :)

My good news is that I am feeling better, not so angry. God is granting me peace at this time, that's for sure.

I'm glad to see you MurrayCod and Fatgirlslim are doing well. FGS, you can be brave. If your DH is giving you the jabs, just close your eyes. MC, I'm sorry your tummy is tender. Mine is okay, a little bruised and hurts for a few hours after the Orangutan ;) but that's about it.

I'll be thinking of you both (my jab time is 9pm too FGS) tonight and am sending calming hugs your way.... :hug:

four and a half hours to go til i experience the wrath of.... ORANGUTAN!

I have to admit, I am a compete woosy when it comes to needles... and I have been actually icing my belly before FSH - and it hasnt hurt one bit - sometimes I cant even FEEL the needle go in... definitely will be taking the same approach for Orgalutran.

Thanks for the "take it slow" advice... I am sure hubby thinks he's a pro now and would have become all macho cowboy on me... and I am sure it would hurt. My FS nurse said it hurts more because the needle is a whole lot thicker... and because the liquid is a whole lot thicker too. SO.... slow is the go.

Anyway... I'm sure this is all childs-play in comparison to contractions and birth :)
