Gallbladder post op question in regards to nausea problem ...

Hi all,

I had surgery to remove my gallbladder this past late January.

Took me a good 3 weeks to feel comfortable with eating foods again, and healthy food at that.

Then the past 2 weeks i have had constant nausea to the point the past 3 days i have had absolutely no appetite at all to eat anything, never feeling hungry ... and if i do try to eat something it doesn't seem to have much taste.

Then last two nights i have almost no sleep at all.

The nausea in the beginning was only from midnight to about 10am but the past few days it's more like 24hrs of it.

I have also noticed my vision has become blurry at times the past 4 or so days.

Thankfully No stomach cramping, etc ...

Has anyone that has had gallbladder removal experienced this at all, and especially get the nausea at 2mths after your surgery ??

My A/F arrived on the 5th of March if that helps any (and been the past 5mths+ about a 31 day cycle)

Sorry to hear your recuperation has been slow. I've not experienced the nausea etc side of things - I started eating gradually more oil/fat slowly over a couple of weeks and didn't have any problems at all.

Is it possible you have picked up some sort of low-grade gastro that's causing this? I think either way, you should see your dr, if you don't get any joy with the GP, go back to the surgeon to talk to them about it. The blurred vision in particular is something you should get checked out. :hug:

thanks heaps MD (missed you so very much too :hug:) ... i'm seeing my GP tomorrow for something else so if she has time (which she usually doesn't as she's always running behind schedule) i will ask her for sure ;) ... i think the blurred vision might something separate, funny i just googled and they reckon ' short sightness ' occurs quite common for over 40yrs of age & long sight 30+ ... hey can't win either way, LOL !!

Like Marydean said, i definitely think going to the doctors to get everything checked out especially with the blurred vision side of things is a good idea!

I didn't get any of these symptoms post surgery. as awful as they are, these are very vague symptoms in that they could belong to any number of conditions including elevated BP, vertigo, pregnancy. Is there anything in particular that makes you think it is related to the surgery?

.... too funny lovely lady Kim as it did cross my mind BUT only cause i had a nice BB member who doesn't know me too well msg me recently that she awoke at 4am the other morning after having a vivid dream that i was pregnant (yeh another BB member - meaning me), she was worried she was gonna upset me in telling me but felt she had to tell me cause it really totally surprised her that she could have such a dream about someone she doesn't know or converse much with, also it was amazing as some details were somethings she wouldn't have known about me ... anyway, i thought it was lovely to hear and it didn't bother me in the slightest way, if anything i was wrapt that she felt comfortable to tell.

I try take all in humor these days and go with the wind ;)

No high hopes for me, been there far too many times ... just enjoying life with my funny little Miss C & fab DP :D ... Cheers gorgeous ladies, let you know how all goes (that's if GP has time tomorrow) !!

well, interesting day GP can't workout why the nausea so she got me to do a pregnancy test just to rule that out ... she said looking like probably not but then she said still early days to tell due to where my cycle is ... and she looked very surprised that my i can't remember if she said progesterone or oestrogen level came up high on the pregnancy test giving the notion of maybe i could be preg ?? Anyhow, she's not focusing on that thinking it's more likely NOT preg ... Anyway, BP wasn't too bad and she sent me off for blood test (4 nice vials, LOL) & another urine test today for different things one seeing if i have diabetes, so i hope to crikey it's not that ... bad news is test results don't come back until a couple of days and GP is booked out (due to public hol too) so i don't see her until next Tues arvo ... so will keep you updated then ;)

Well I"m glad your GP is being thorough about it...I'll admit diabetes crossed my mind (fingers crossed for you it ain't that) so I guess all you can do is sit tight and wait. :hug:

thanks MD :D, yeh it crossed my mind too and yep so hope it's not, no one in my family has it ... and i wouldn't describe myself obese and sure not an unhealthy eater as i'm careful what i eat so it would be a huge shock if i am, just hope the GP might think to ring me earlier than next Tues as she said results come in about 2days but then she knows i'm booked in to see her next Tues so more than likely she won't ring. She did say to not to hesitate to ring her if the nausea worsens which it has been so far so at least that's comforting to know i can contact her. Just hope i don't stress too much in the meantime ... hopefully the Easter Bunny might bring me some good news !!

Not much help from me either as I am only 4 days post op!
I had to go back to hosp the dau before last as I could not keep any food or water down since before my op ( week and a half) and I needed to.. turns out that I was very constipated (sorry TMI) and once that was given something to help "pass" (pardon the pun!!) I was all ok to go!!

Apparently the drs told me that its not uncommon to have relapses after the op and even think that you are goin through it all again as your body "forgets" you have had your GB removed and starts the pain again..

I am taking eating slowly and just eating fruits and meats and veggies - no fast foods and no fats - infact the thought of fast food makes me feel ill... my attack was bought on my a meal of Maccas and I was kept in hosp as my GB was looking like rupture..

... me too yuk feel sick at the thought of any takeaway now.

Your doing pretty good Kate as i have cut out red meat also just hasn't agreed with me & that i read it's not recommended after GB removal as hard to break down (doesn't matter for me as not a big meat eater anyhow, lol).

Yeh i was the same lots of veg & fruit ... and the odd zooper dooper icypole.

Certainly keep away from grains OMG big NO NO, i had kind of by accident a slice of bread with grains on the top of loaf and wow that was a time on the loo, sorry TMI.

Kate have you checked out what to eat & not eat ... plenty of websites around saying pretty much the same. If it makes you feel better my health concience BIL who's a PE teacher had his gallbladder removed only couple of weeks ago ... so goes to show can be anyone :shakehead:

Took me about 3weeks until i felt comfortable about eating but then my serves are smaller and much more healthier than before. Cause our liver is now working overtime and much harder i feel i owe it to my liver to be careful as i don't wanna find out in 10years time my liver is stuffed as can't take that out like a gallbladder ... sadly as you prob were told the liver can now get stones, so yeh gotta be extra careful still for that reason too.

All incisions healed up super quick although bellybutton was still sensitive after several weeks. But pretty good now !!!
