Shes screaming uncontrollably. Not sure what else to do...

DD1 has been screaming uncontrollably for the last hour and a half, shes been sobbing, to the point of vomitting. Shes throwing herself on the floor, banged her head on the bathroom door kicking screaming etc.
It took 3 attempts for a bath (thinking that would clam her down). I can't hold her still enough to check her temp (though it would be high with all the screaming she's been doing).
Nothing I do seems to be working. I've given her a bottle with some panadol in it and put her into bed but she's still going.

I'm putting this down to a new baby, out of routine, visitors etc.

Does ANYONE have any other suggestions that I can try to get her to calm down??? ANYTHING????

Can you hop into a shower together?

:hug: Maybe now she is in bed it will give her the chance to be away from any stimulation and let her try calm herself down? Its can be hard when you bring #2 home. Does she like music? Maybe play some in her room?

:hug: How stressful :(. I'd definitely put it down to all you have listed, she sounds over tired and over it the poor thing.

I don't know what else you can do apart from keeping things quiet, lights low and lots of cuddles if she'll let you.

I hope she calms down soon, these moments are just temporary, I promise :hug:.

Winter - i've tried bath and shower still screamed.
Shell - She has music on in her room now so i'm hoping that it will help. I've given her her fav soft toy and baby to take to bed with her so :crossfinger: it works.

I know it would be dark where you are now, but could you take her outside (even just out on your back doorstep) and get some fresh air? I find fresh air outside, even in the evenings is a great way to calm my kids before bed if they are going crazy..Even if it's raining, it' a great diversion.

Yep - checking to see if the stars are out yet worked for us.

Do you think she might have an ear infection? They can cause a lot of pain and if she can't express that verbally she could be expressing it that way. If she keeps going might be worth a trip to an after hours clinic if you have one near.

I can't hear her in her room so i think she might have gone to sleep. I'll keep an eye on her. It's only been about 10mins that it's been quiet for.

Shes awake again i found her sobbing in her bed. Checked her temp and it's fine. Will just keep an eye her, she managed some cuddles.

:hug: i am not sure what to do. Do you think maybe if you just laid down with her in bed and give her some cuddles and tell her how special she is and how much you love her? Maybe she feels she isnt getting as much of your attention now DD2 has arrived (not that you can help that in anyway) she just isnt used to sharing you. :hug: I hope she sleeps well tonight xo

No other hidden cuts or infections? My big one is too old for screaming (she's at the whine and complain age) but sometimes she gets tiny cuts or splinters on her feet (sometimes hands, sometimes gravel embedded in her knees, then this one time she got gravel embedded in her forehead), they get infected and they hurt like hell but don't give an all-over fever. Upset tummy/gas would do it too.

Hope she's better today.

Try an amber teething necklace (long term solution) and for short term, just breathe in and out with her.

Out ... (through the mouth)

Just sit on the floor and say that. I find that when DS is like that, if I breathe out loud for 5 mins or so with him he'll calm down and tell me what's wrong ..

She's woken up this morning with a clear runny nose and a yucky sounding cough, so on top of all the other stuff she was getting sick :( My poor bubba princess.

(on the other hand... this will be my first major challenge... a newborn and a toddler who is sick/grumpy and cuddly)

Oh your poor dd, I hope you can manage lots if cuddles for both of them. Maybe let her snuggle up ob the couch under a blanket next to you while you are feeding?
