I know many people don't agree but I think the younger the better (if you want to do them). I had my girls done at 9 and 6 weeks. They both healed fine and have had no issues at all. Both didn't even notice that they were in and they never got infected or red (after the first redness subsided). My 4 year old loves hers but doesn't play with them as they have always been there iykwim?
You can also use emla cream to numb if you want to. Also both my girls cried for less than a minute after it was done.
thats what i thought the younger the better i would love to do it now so that way she isnt bothered with them and fiddle farting around with them lol
but when i told someone today they looked at me like i was an idiot lol like i hadnt heard the latest news...
thats why i thought did i miss something?
I *think* its 6months
Personally I think when they are old enough to ask for it and understand the up keep etc but whatever works for you :)
LOL, a similar thread caused quite a debate a little while ago, https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...d.php?t=149055 have a read if you have time. got a bit controversial at times!
Its a personal thing.
Some people like waiting til your child can ask etc.
DD1 asked from 12mths and got them done just after 2...
Each to their own
It's definantly a personal choice :)
I had dd ear's done when she was 3 months old ( almost 9 years ago), she hardly even cried!! she cried more with her 2 month old needles ( poor little thing)
It was really good, they never got infected and she couldnt touch them, so they healed real quickly :)
all the best with whatever decision you make :)
most places won't do them til 6 months, but if you can find someone of european background (spanish etc), because it is "normal" over there to pierce ears at birth (well, not quite, but VERY young) they are more comfortable with it. We got DD's done at 12 weeks and have never had an issue with them
I do & don't want to get my DD ears pierced, she is 6mths old. I do cos then it's done, less chance of her fiddling with them and chances of her getting them done later at fairly high anyway. I also don't cos I don't want to cause her unnecessary pain or discomfort and I can't handle her crying when she gets her needles let alone having her ears pierced. It's a tough call.
I got DD's done at 18 months, please place i got them done will not do them before 18 months to give the lobes plenty of time to grow otherwise the earrings can sit too far back or too far forward.
DD didnt cry at all, but then again she never did with her needles either.
Good luck with whatever you decide, if this baby is a girl I will probably wait until she is 18 months too because DD loved having them pierced and she didnt play with them too much, we made a game out of putting the antiseptic on them :)
I had Peppars done about 2 months ago now and havent had any issues with them at all.
We did have the cream put on just before they were done and she only cried for a few seconds with the 2nd one and that was only because the girl had to hold her head still.
She was too busy looking around to see where the click had come from a few minutes before.:p
She does pull at them sometimes but no more than she would pull at her ears normally. I had them pierced with plastic nickel free earrings with little pink crystals, soooooo cute.
The butterflies snap on too and cant be squeezed further together as they have stoppers on them. Hard to explain I know but they are specifically for little ears
Good luck I love her little pierced ears and although I have had some disapproving
looks I dont care.
thanks ladies, very interesting...
im wanting them done now so that way she will barely know they are there.. my mum said she had mine done at 6 weeks as for my sister also..
i dont know i guess i hhave to research it abit further..
I wish I had done DD quite early.... Now I guess it will have to wait till she is closer to 2.
I had mine done when I was 2 with no issues.

I took DD the day she turned 6 months. I took her to a peircing place and that was their minimum age limit. I guess there may be differences.
She screamed (but she also screamed for her needles the day before) and a little bit of after care with the antiseptic spray and she's barely noticed them.
I don't regret getting it done at that age AT ALL!
:)
i got dd's done at 8 or 9 months at ella bache, and we've had no problems with them at all.
Someone i know had her girls done at around 8weeks... to help tell them apart
I think it is fine - before the start moving, grabbing, touching etc!
I got my first dd done at 2 months...she was great with them and they never bothered her.
My two younger girls are 2 and 3 and I would like to get theirs done soon.
I wish mum had got mine day when I was a baby baby. She got them done when I was three, and very aware of them and pain! They got infected and had to come out.
Got them done again when I was ten, but again, had to come out as they were getting infected. Didnt help that I played alot of sport and because I couldn't take them out they were always taped with masking tape.
Got them done again when I was 20 and thankfully they've been all good! Third time the charm.
I say do your daughter a favour and do them as early as you can. It's easy to take them out if she decides she hates them later.
Ive seen people say you should wait til they're aware of the upkeep involved. But srsly. What upkeep? With proper care they're healed in two weeks, and that's it. You don't have to worry about them ever again!
