Second hand baby clothes/blankets/manchester

I really try to avoid buying brand new items for a baby as i find alot of second hand stuff is quite good and CHEAP!

It was easy finding what i needed for DD as everyone is selling girl things but im finding it tricky for boy things.

I've had a look on ebay and many things are a bit too exxy still for me and not really what i want/need. I mainly just want jumpsuits, socks and the linen stuff.

Ive looked on allclassifieds, gumtree and no one is really selling, ive joined 3 buy sell groups in my area and not a lot going on there either... my SIL has offered some of her old boy stuff which will be a help and a few friends have a few items. Where else is there to look?

I'm thinking ill have to bite the bullet and do some laybys when baby clothes are on special.

Local OP Shops often have some amazing clothes at cheap prices.
When we have no-one to pass down clothes to all the girls stuff goes there and to be honest most of it is in MINT condition, i've even donated things never worn with tags.
Even if you know people who had little girls they might still have white or yellow jumpsuits or sheet sets, it's still worth asking around.

I found the bulk lots of baby clothes on ebay good and reasonably priced for what you get. Just have to keep regularly checking in and seeing what there is. Most, close to 80%, of DD1's baby clothes were second hand ebay job lots, which were then passed down to DD2. Also go through her clothes and see if anything she has can be used for a boy.

I actually found that for simple singlets, onesies etc that Kmart. Big W and Target were pretty cheap especially when they have their discount sales on. Might be worth waiting and then laybying once they are on sale. I then found things like Sprout and Pumpkin Patch on ebay etc for much cheaper than retail. Good luck!

Also Best n Less. when they have a baby sale they are really cheap and good quality for essentials.

You can also dye things like wondersuits

Bub is due in August, so just try and think what size he may be during Summer as lots of Summer clothes are going out dirt cheap at the moment. That's what we have done.
It's harder to buy for DD as she's so little, but we've grabbed some shorts and tshirts for Beez from Kmart for only a dollar or 2 each.

Thats true. Its so hard though. DD was tiny for AGES! so she lived in 0000 until 4 months and then was in 000 for a while and 00-0 until like a month ago!

I thought about maybe buying packs of body suits, long sleeve and short sleeve in white and getting iron on pictures and dyeing them. Kmart have jumpsuits for $5 each so i will have to stock up on them as they are an essential for my kids lol

Laybys will just have to be my thing from now on.

eta: atleast DD is sorted until she is 3 for clothes thanks to my wonderful SIL :D

DD is sorted for a little while longer (due to her being between 000-0 at the moment).

Maybe you could have a look and see if there is a free cycle page on FB for your area.
I just gave away bags and bags of baby clothes, toys, blankets etc on there for the Brisbane one.
You just pop a post up asking for what you need, you would be surprised how many people offer things :D

I find it way more rewarding to pass on everything than try to sell it!

Char - i've read so many threads especially on BB of women having a tiny bub first and then this whopper 10 pounder the next! or a super growing baby!!

I layby everything! It helps me be organised, get the sizes I need and only pay off a small amount a week! It also stops DH noticing how much I actually spend on the kids clothes :)

Keep checking ebay as well. It took me a couple of weeks of checking before I came across what I needed for my girls (bulk lots of summer tshirts). I actually came across 2 great listings and now I follow the sellers, and buy heaps of their stuff. It's also a busy time of year - I have bags and bags of stuff I need to list (girls stuff) and I haven't found the time with Easter hols coming up.

JJ was 10lbs and still in 000 for a little while! :)

It is harder getting boys stuff - the babykidsmarket have special boys markets because it is so hard and often the normal ones are full of girls stuff. Google babykidsmarket and see if they have any in your area (even if they don't have a boys one the normal ones do have a few boys stalls).

i suggest dying stuff... also.... things like singlets doesn't really matter if they aren't blue - - they go underneath stuff no one will see it. Stuff they are going to sleep in - again, i don't think it matters too much if they are pink - no one will see it....
They really don't need too much at that age so try not to spend too much.

If you're worried about sizes, do you think you could put money away and buy it once bub's is born? Or if you have the spare cash, buy yourself some gift cards that you could also put away until he's here and then use them. I know you're in Canberra, but over summer he really isn't going to need to wear much anyway so you wont need a lot of things.
