How often do your 3.5year olds have tantrums?
Just about daily. Sometimes more. Very rarely a day goes by without one.
Depends on week DD turns 4 at end of may and previously not really given to tantrums but past month we have had prob 4 a week, as in she gets so upset and out of control there is no reasoning with her.
DS is turning 4 tomorrow, rarely now, maybe once a week and only if overtired. At 3.5 he was much more emotional and would have 4-5 a week, even every day sometimes. Grew out of it around 3y9m
Most probably 2-3 times a week. She had a ripper at the shops today . But upon saying that she is a also a very loud child so on a daily basis she is prone to yell at me about something :o or yell at her siblings, a lot. According to her kindy teacher though she is perfect of course and always uses "inside" voices...
DD2 is a shocker at the moment - she's nearly 3.5.
I swear some days she's going to pop a blood vessel or something. There's no stopping her so I put her in her room to calm down - touching her only makes it worse so I just leave her alone. Think she's like me when she's cranky - leave me alone too until I can get myself over it.
I'd say she has a minimum of 2 a day. The joys of a threenager.
I thought 2 was terrible but 3...
We had a really difficult patch at 3.5:

But she seems to have come out of it in the last month or two (now a few days off 4) and whilst she's still prone to melodrama, is back to her usual temperament.
Google 'planning with kids three and a half' - there's an interesting theory on the issues around 'half' years.
Hold on!!! xoxoxox
Is 'a lot' an answer you wanted to hear? Three does suck.
I'm in the same boat as Arimeh, everyday at least once, usually more. And he's not three any more and it hasn't stopped :wall:
DS2 is 3 and is a nightmare he cracks it and has tantrums multiple times a day!! He screams and lashes out.
You girls really have made feel better - well not do alone when I'm dealing with the frequent daily/ hourly tantrums!
Whoever coined the 'terrible twos' clearly hadn't experienced a three yo. I found two a much easier age :)
I agree with MN - 2 was definitely easier than 3 has been. I could understand that it was alot of frustration and language that affected ds when he was 2 and I felt more empathy with that  our full on tantrums have decreased a bit in frequency lately but have been replaced with more hitting :(
My names are:
Terrible 2's
Trying 3's
Feral 4's
Feisty 5's
So far as DS1 nearly 5 and attitude to boot!! 2 was by far easier than 3 4 and 5.
I was about to post and say our Moo has them all the time! But now I think about it his tantrums have all but disappeared in the last couple of weeks. He still gets upset when his little brother touches his stuff but has been pretty reasonable lately. So hang in there! It does get better :)
At 3.5 she would have one every day. Easily. Now it's much rarer and they don't last anywhere near as long. I can almost certainly recognise why it is happening (tired, hungry, dramatic change in routine), so yes it gets better.
I still remember DD1 had a couple of doozies at 5yo though, lol. So I'm not counting any chickens.
Often
I can sort of see a light at the end of the tunnel, she turns 4 in November. I have found slight improvement in her behaviour since starting 3yr old kinder.
Her tantrum can be colossal over the smallest things such as this morning not wanting to wear the shoes she had on, then all of the sudden liking them and going all angelic on me..very confusing.
Or not being able to carry her brothers school bag from the car to the house...we have had a 30 min tantrum over that one.
Oh yeah 3.5 was hard work!!
I found the leap to 4 was massive for dd and now she is back to being a dream kid. Everything was frustrating for her at 3.5 and now she is 4 I can see big differences in drawing, talking, empathy etc. it's a big leap I think.
